I've tried some laughing buddha during TnT at Barney's about a month ago, guy from ACD(thetourist) was sitting vaping it from volcano. Nice sativa, smoked my first serious bong that day from it and was pretty pleased

About thai i remember that Anyday had some Chocolope Thai back in september 2013. Seriously nice smoke!

I hate to split hairs but what I think the post is asking is where can outdoor-grown 100% thai be found nowadays, not where can a thai crossed with another cross grown under lights in a room be had, there isnt really much in common between the two other than the letters t-h-a-i if you see what I mean. This is why the genuine Jamaican weed grown under the sun (not what is sold in Dam as 'Super Jamaican' or 'High grade', real HG from a jamaican/rasta) commands prices at or higher than kush/cheese etc...its a distinction worth making as the high/feeling is very different. nature vs nurture etc. The jamaican hill herbsman, mostly rastafarians, have always jealously treasured, nurtured and protected their weed/phenos over the decades, unlike the thai weed growers, alas. Its getting more complicated now by their adoption of 'our' strains that allow them to have two or three growing seasons per year instead of the traditional one. This fascinating and illuminating vid from the Jamaican hills illustrates the whole thing very well. forget its basically Greenhouse being a bit like bloodsuckers, that doesnt really matter to still enjoy :D

/\ /\ You're right, you just wont get the stuff that some of us old timers remember. Most of my memories like yours seem to be come from being there and taking the herb on it's home turf as it were. Although you have traveled inland and overland extensively and have therefore been to the herbs origins and you are a million times more knowledgable than I, who was a simple seafarer following the ancient custom of the sea, that if you're in port and it's looks tastes or feels good, do it, 'cos the next storm could be the one. I even kept a gold ring in my left ear to "pay the ferryman". Fuck stoned again :D :D, right yes it is the nature that is all and I dont figure that can be replicated. You could tell when it was grown in the ground because I swear I could always taste the tropical earth whether African, Asian or good old jamaica where I have visited a plantation almost at harvest time in the mountains above Savvanah la Mar (sp) I was on a sugar carrier at the time and $40 US would buy a kilo. :D And a big fuckoff chillum was highly recommended to combust those good herbs
What a long strange trip it is.

Im not really an oldtimer (26) but I have parents who smoke and have always travelled a lot to the far east.

Last time I was in Khao Lak ca. 2009. I met up with some Thai Friends, who took me some way into the mountanous jungles of the coast. We came to a sunny hillside that was PLASTERED with cannabis plants.

I remember them giving me sticky Thai on several occassions. I remember the taste being a bit like coffee, not strong but ultimitely very potent. I also remember them rolling some of the weed in honey and then dried it. This is what they themselves called Sticky thai.

I also remember them not curing/drying the buds, but just picking off the plants to smoke, kind og like the Rastas do.

Ive been to the far east many times since, but have not been able to get my hands on this stuff again.
Mostly it's Hash in Thailand for me now, as a lot of the weed in the tourist areas is very low grade.

I remember smoking some of the best Hash ive had in India with a shaman, though :) Was invited to smoke with him, very hounered.

+1, You're not kidding...
Check out some of Bushweed's outdoor giant thais on this 18-page ICmag Pure Thai Sativas thread...

Ace sells a pure Double Thai, that I've got, but've yet to launch...

"Double Thai is a hybrid that combines the best Thai Sativas we have ever worked with.
The mother is a first generation Thai from Koh Chang Island.
The father comes from the latest highland Meo Thai selections from Cannabiogen.
Double Thai is an excellent choice to experience the effect and taste of the best original Thais,
with all the classic Thai traits emphasized by the hybrid vigor."

Could anyone recommend a coffeeshop for thai weed i can use as a filler?

Doesn't need to be strong, just don't want something that tastes of chemical etc and i don't want to be using a herbal mix.

Thanks.

Try Mr. K or Black Star. Both shops are in the Jordaan area.

Try yo-yo for outdoor strains, they should be organic, clean and good for filler. Also Paradox has had pretty good Thai.

Black Star sell Ghanaian sativa, Durban Poison and either Thai or Jamaican - all blockweed, seemingly outdoor grown and good as filler. Around th €4/g mark in €10 bags.

Katsu for sure!

I spent something like 40 euros on their Thai last August, and it was really nice as filler for hash joints, as i don't smoke tobacco.

To me, it worked really well cause it really is a "light" smoke, ( ..nice as a pure joint for first timers as well) ..very nicely transparent in taste and effect, so not masking the effects of the hash badly at all. AND!! it was very smooth smoke, easy on the throath, which is very important thing for me.
..stems and few seeds in the 10 euro/3-3.5 gram bags thou, but you can live with it

Check out Katsu, worked very well for me August/2014.

Bluebird's Jamaica was fairly ok also, but it was abit damp (-er than the thai) and had to be air-dried few hours before rolling, but Katsu's thai worked straight from the bag.

Minty taste, very smooth light smoke like the Thai, but i like Katsu's thai better, better quality weed in general also.

Katsu is also a nice calm coffeeshop to hang around for a while for a dring and smoke, nice tunes, nice service.
People seem to like their Mango Haze also, but i didn't try it.
:D
