Ok here is the problem with communication. I don't speak Dutch but I am learning basics online but not much. Do hotel owners speak English? What's the percentage of hotel owners speaking English? I know that coffeeshop owners speak English because of tourist visiting too often. Holla back exclusively.

In Amsterdam, I'd like to think that just about everyone speaks at least a little English. Up here in the North, well... I've come across less people that don't speak English here in a year than I encountered in Germany during a single day. Apart from the youngest of kids and the oldest of grampses and grannies, the Dutch speak excellent English. Not only do they speak it well, they are more than happy to speak it - my attemps to learn Dutch flopped when I realized that every time I try to speak Dutch and they manage to determine I am a foreigner, they switch to English, denying me the opportunity to practice.

To be polite, I always start conversations I can't handle in Dutch by greeting them in Dutch and asking "Spreekt u engels?" to which the answer is usually either affirmative or "een beetje" which means "a little bit" but probably means more English than you've heard most people speak outside of English-speaking countries... Dutch modesty.

Don’t worry about Dutch speaking because maximum hotel owners speak English because dutch get visitors from all over the world. However, it is better for you make yourself fluent in dutch, by making it your daily routine language with your friends who live in Dutch cities. Thanks.
