The cost of residency permits for non-EU
nationals is to rise sharply with an initial
permit to stay, known as an MVV, set to
cost between €50 and €600 more,
depending on the purpose of the visit,
immigration minister Gerd Leers told MPs.
The cost of an actual residency permit to
replace the MVV will go up €112, apart from
for people entering the country on the
highly-skilled migrants' scheme.
People who do not need an MVV, such as
Americans, Canadians and Japanese, will
also face a rise in the cost of their official
papers.
The aim of the increases is to generate an
extra €18m for the treasury, and the price
will then cover around two-thirds of the cost
of the permit, Leers said.
