A good town to vist near Amsterdam.

Post by donpacino »

Hey there,

Me and the Mrs are over in Amsterdam on the 18/08 -22/08 and we was thinking of visiting another town for a day for a change, i was initially thinking of going to Alkmar as i have heard they have quite a good red light district but going by the directory they only have about 5 coffee shops so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a good town to visit that has a good red light district and good coffee shops but is not to far away from the dam.

Peace. :D

Haarlem without a doubt, not sure about it's RDL lol as it's not my bag mate but they have a good few CS and it's a gorgeous city with nice cathedrals.

Aside from Alkmaar, Den Haag and Utrecht both have a RLDs. Utrecht has them in houseboats.

So Alkmaar does not have an RLD then, i thought it did.

Do you know if Harleem has an RLD.

And do most the RLD's have coffee shops in them to.

Alkmaar does have an RLD, but it is just one street about
250m long, every door has a Red Light. Few coffeeshops,
so not sure it is worth it (Stepping Out and Anytime were OK).

Haarlem has a RLD, but blink, and you will miss it.
Many Cs, some very good.

There is no special link between cs and RLDs.
So I guess it's a matter of priorities.

the entire country is near by, i regularly fly in and out of eindhoven for my weekends in the dam. its 2 hours to get to the other end of the country. realistically you can go most places on a day trip.

the obvious place that lots of people go to is haarlem (me included). haarlem is gorgeous, (just ignore the inital view of a concrete car park immediatly as you exit the train) and i really enjoyed coffeeshop 'easy going' (or was it easy times? cant remember). great bars, great streets, didnt see any RLD but apparently theres a small one.

You have been posted on the August Whos In Town page.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Or post one of your own. All I need is a date, time, and coffeeshop to post it.

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/membe ... le&u=49122

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

I vote Haarlem, Several menus on the coffeeshop menus page.

Haarlem Coffeeshop Map. Be sure to visit Birdy, it is north of the station.

Enjoy

Apologies for my "American English" - Aside as "in addition to " Alkmaar.

Alkmaar DOES have an RLD. You mentioned Alkmaar and I was saying aside from Alkmaar (which you had already mentioned).

Harleem is awesome. SO is Den Haag. If you go to Den Haag, take a couple of hours and see the MC Escher museum. I did it on the last trip and it was wonderful. Great to do if your stoned.
