Post by donpacino »

I got home from work an hour ago to find my mate had dropped me off a nice bag of blue cheese, so i have smoked a nice fat one and im watching doctor who and thinking how great this program is when your are nice and baked, im gonna make another one and watch another couple of episodes i think.

What do you guys think of doctor who? Do you prefer to watch it stoned or straight or not at all? What is your favourite episode and who is favourite companion and of course your favourite doctor.

Call me sad but i love it.

I like Dr Who but I prefer the old Dr's like Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston. I don't like David Tennant or Matt Smith.

Dr Who Companions, I liked:
Sarah Jane Smith -?
Rose Tyler - Billie Piper
Noel Clarke - Mickey Smith
Catherine Tate - Donna
Martha Jones - ?

Love it, been watching since '80. Oh man, tough one, maybe City of Death (w/cameo by John Cleese). I dunno about companion, maybe Adric or Romana. Tom Baker! I can really only get into Doctors nos. 1-5, not so much 2 though.

Sorry to dig this up, was looking for ideas for dvd's to take with me on my trip and thought bingo when I seen this thread. Love the program and got shitloads of Dr Who dvd's I've collected over the years, mainly classic series. Gotta dig Genesis Of The Daleks out as that should be good to watch when wrecked in Dam, or any of the Dalek or Cybermen stories in fact.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time travelling, humanoid alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his 'TARDIS', a sentient, telepathic time-and-space-travel machine that flies through the time vortex. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, a common sight in Britain in 1963, when the series first aired. Along with a succession of companions, the Doctor faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help ordinary people, and right wrongs. The show has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the 2006 British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series and five consecutive (2005–10) wins at the National Television Awards under Russell T Davies' reign as Executive Producer. In 2011, Matt Smith became the first Doctor to be nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The programme is listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and as the "most successful" science fiction series of all time—based on its over-all broadcast ratings, DVD and book sales, and iTunes traffic. During its original run, it was recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop).

Tom Baker for me, an eccentric big character with an alien quality and a lot of strongly written episode. Many of the actors, like David Tennant, cite Patrick Troughton as their favourite and I would like to see more of his episodes.
And like a lot of Dr Who fans, it would be great to see Paul McGann written in for a cameo after starring in the not very good one off film.
