If you're used to Amsterdam coffeeshops some medical marijuana pharmacies will creep you out, as it did me. One place had a 'security' person with a handgun.

Until you have lived here, you'll understand the necessity.

Thanks for the explanation. My family has been in Los Angeles for a few decades now.
I do understand. It was just a surprise to me since I expected a 'therapeutic' ambiance.
Thought I'd let people know what to expect.
Hmm... I've been thinking of comparing L.A. dispensaries vs. Amsterdam's shops.

Thanks for the link. Back in the EU a few hours now. You just reminded me that I'm now a few HOURS away from the nearest dispensary instead of ten minutes *sigh*
Unsure how useful the link's comments are but I understand opinions even if I disagree.
My opinion... the TOKERs win!
I've been a guerilla on this side of this "drug war" for some decades.
It finally feels that my side is making progress. Reassuring but just not satisfying enough.
