Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
Hi folks, I hope you can help me. Im looking to set up two tents. One for mother's and clones and one for veg/flowering.
I was thinking theses 2 tents from secret Jardin, are they the best?
Mother's and clones: http://www.secretjardin.eu/index/catalo ... 33/lang-en
Veg/Flowering: http://www.progrow.co.uk/acatalog/info_05178.html
Where is the best place to purchase indoor cultivation gear online?
What sort of lighting and ventilation should I get?
I have alot of 9 litre containers that i was planning to grow in, either soilless mix or coco. But maybe I should do a SOG grow with smaller containers. Im not sure what is the best method to optimize the tent grow?
Now I know I havent mentioned costings, but I want to buy good gear but not get ripped off or be dissatisfied.
I hope you good people can give me a few pointers, I have grown indoor and outdoor before but never in tents.
Cheers, Mellow Man

Don't know which tents are best but, I know Budbox tents are very good, about the same price as them.
For the large tent, 2x600watt HPS lights and 6" RVK extractor with filter. For the tent with 2 compartments, haven't got a clue but, it looks like it's designed for fluorescents, a cheap in-line fan should be fine for that.

That's a huge tent , unless your doing it to sell I wouldn't think you would need one that big ? Lighting Lumatek 600w dim able ballast , Ruck 4-6inch fan with Rhino filter . For veg maybe flouros ? 125-250w blue spectrum , maybe get away without extraction ? Jus get a floor fan for circulation (maybe ghetto but iv never used extraction for veg)

Yeah the SJ tents are some of the best. I have that larger tent myself and am using 1 600w hps w/electronic ballast with 6' inline fan.
If you try to put 2 600w lights or preferably 1 1000w light in there you better have good ventilation and the ambient room temps will have to be kept pretty low or you'll do nothing but cook the plants.
The small tent get flouros or LED lights for it, thats all you really need to veg or keep mothers. good luck

Nah, people have much larger setups than that, purely for personal useCisco wrote:That's a huge tent , unless your doing it to sell I wouldn't think you would need one that big ?
Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
Well 600-1000G would be far to much for my Percy use (unless you only done one grow a year) based on 1G per W . That's why I used a very small set up , didn't want more weed than I could use , I like to have a perpetual bloom too so the idea of using 600-1000w is absurd (my own circumstances) I reckon if you ended up wi loads sitting around you would sell it and that's attention you don't need (again my personal opinion, a massive grow may suit you fine for percy
Enjoy

I would think the second one would meet all of your needs, just put in a divider. One half could be used for M's and C's, while the other is used for veg/flowering.
Check this all-in-one kit... http://www.head-nature.com/seite?wg=662
If you want to keep a mother plant, you don't need a grow box, just an 18-24 light source. The same applies to clones, until they are ready to veg. For veg and flowering, the XXL box should suffice, especially if you plan on vegging/flowering 20 or more plants ala SOG. I own an XL box (120x120x200; 400w), which in my opinion is big enough to grow 9 plants comfortably (non-SOG).
I also think using a 1000w lamp in a grow box is extreme overkill. Given what (most) manufacturers state as optimal area of coverage (400w - 1sqm; 600w - 2sqm; 1000w - 4sqm), a 600w should be the highest wattage used in these types of grow tents.
If your intentions are to supply only yourself and maybe a significant other, then I would recommend buying a set like mine (as mentioned above), using either a 400w or 600w lamp.
Happy farming...

Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
Hi Guys, thanks For the Help
MR Gav I was thinking 2 x for the larger tent myself but it seems that maybe overkill and the temps will be very difficult to regulate.
Cisco cheers for the brands and advice.
WeedHog I see you only use 1 x 600w yourself, in this case do you use a light mover or where do you position the lamp in the tent?
Uncle Ron thanks for the Link, I think an all in one kit maybe the way to go as my head is spinning from the choice in products out there
I totally agree that 1000watt would be to extreme for any tent grow. Maybe I should even scrap the 600w and hit the 400w instead Im not sure
As for the smaller tent. What I was thinking was if Im going to be keeping a mother or 2 on 18hours a day, than I would like to throw a few Autos in there with the Mothers. Now I know alot of people dont like Autos but I read good things about Cream Caramel Autos from Sweet seeds and I would like to give them a bash
So in this case, would the Flouros still be enough? or should I be looking at a 400w for that setup?
Sorry the world of Tents is all very new to me

Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
Hey MM, can't really help with lights/ventilation, although with ventilation, go for the best money can buy and rhino carbon filters are the mutts, I've also got a Secret Jardin and love it, it's only small (DR60), but you can get 3-4 photoperiod or 5 auto's in it comfortably, people also use them for veg/mother rooms and if your looking for an online shop, try Green's Horticulture (just google it), reasonably price with stealth delivery which is usually next day if everything is in stock.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
I can tell you from experience that a tent of that size can easily accomodate 2x600watt hps and a 6" RVK extractor with carbon filter is enough to keep the air cool inside the tent. If anyone tells you different, ask them how many times they've actually done that setup. 2x600watt is fine for that tent, I would even go as far as saying the tent is designed for 2x600watt lamps.Mellow Man wrote:Hi Guys, thanks For the Help

Growell are very expensive (lumatek 600w is £15 more than my local growshop) and I have heard rumors of them being grasses.
Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
You would be fine with the CFLs for the autos for the veg stage , jus get them under the HPS as soon as they sex
I'm pretty interested in the Cream Caramel Autos too , I started my growing experiments with Sweet Seeds , Auto Fast Bud and Sweet Afghani Delight (non auto) have their Feminised Cream Caramel on the go and Mohan Ram
good choice for a beginner (sweet seeds) great germination percentages , pretty easy to grow , no real problems good luck and keep us informed
No doubt you could do two 600s in that tent but do you really need it ? Work out your reasons you want to grow , how your going to grow (perpetual) how much you wanna grow then that will give you more idea on the setup you need for your individual needs (for example perpetual grow 2x600w say not to the full benefit at first few runs so say a yield of 600G (easily manageable , ideally you wanna get 1G per Watt) so that will give you 21oz every 8-10 weeks !!
so if I grew with that kinda set up I would have 16oz left mounting up after every grow !!!!

Re: Help me pick the lights and ventilation for these tents
That's right Cisco but, my point was that tent is great for 2x600watt and it's easy to manage temps with a 6" RVK

Hi Serpent, nice to hear your getting on well your Secret Jardin, thanks for the heads up on the carbon Filter, defo want the best money can buy, as keeping the odor at minimal is key
. Ill check out Green's Horticulture too, many thanks
Mr Gav thanks for clarifying that for me, so I reckon ill go with 2 x 600watts. Should I go for those Cool tube lamps that hook up to the venting or are they shit, any idea are they digital and adjustable?
Cisco, there some nice strains your growing. I know a 2 x 600watt set up may seem a little over the top, but I want to give multiple strains a shot at growing and would also like to try many methods of medium/ grow technique etc. I doubt Ill get 1g a watt on my first few tent grows , to be honest Ill be happy with half that. And if it turns out Im churning out too much, than I can always use a divider and use half the tent size a go on my next shot.
Thanks for all your help
