Rugby World Cup 2011

Post by AdanacDave »

With less than 2 weeks untill my favorite sporting event, Rugby World Cup!!! This year's host is New Zealand...to far away and to expensive for my budget, but I will be cheering on my beloved Rugby Canada ...but in the slight chance that we get knocked out of competion before the championship game, I will be rooting for South Africa.
-Anyone else going to be following the Rugby World Cup this year??? who ya rooting for??? who's yer favorite player???
cheers,
DAve.

Peace

I will be viewing as many games as I possibly can, even though most of my beloved Wales games are in the very early hours and I'm not particularly a morning person. As mentioned I will be behind Wales and for once I am feeling quite good about our chances, having usually been a large cynic when getting too hyped for Wales' chances in any sport at all. Ironically your 2nd choice team of Serth Ifrica are our opening game on Sunday September 11th at 7:30 am (GMT), and I reckon it will be a huge war in the Scrummages as this is a big strength for both teams. Favourite Welsh forward for me has to be Loosehead Gethin Jenkins with him being one of the worlds top props (Loose OR Tight) and the fact he comes from the same youth side I played for many years ago- Beddau RFC. And in the backs, the player every Welsh rugby fans got a boner over the last year or so, Big George North. He's 6'4" winger, fast as fuck, buff as fuck and I cant see any rated Left Winger looking forward to marking this beast (even NZ's animal of Sivivatu). Anyway I'm looking forward to the RWC very much and hope Canada do good also, Rod Snow was an animal in his playing days for Newport......

Hoping to record and watch every game,Live a stones throw from George Norths home, rate him massively even though I'm not Welsh.
Being an Irish rugby fan I think we'll be lucky to get out of the group, which is basically the norm for us in the World Cup,reckon NZ will choke again even though they will have massive home advantage

Australia are in with a good chance and France could go all the way as well,England may bulldoze their way out of the group, but don't think they have the midfield to make it past a semi.

South Africa can never be under estimated but I think they may struggle to get into the final.

Argentina have an aging pack, but I reckon their 10 man game will stutter, and they won't reach the dizzy heights of the last world cup.

Scotland appear quite fiery but appear lacking in the ability to score tries, don't think they will have a great time if they get out of their group and that would be a surprise to see them in a QF

As for the rest I hope some of the second tier teams get a big scalp under their belts.

Should be a good tournament if the refs don't feck it up with inconsistent interpretations at the break down and scrum.

This might be our year if we can hold it together. I just hope the Azzurri dont give us as close a run than at the 6 nations.

Another early exit by "Scotland" from another big event. Oh dear, we seem to be going backwards when it comes to the sporting big guns.... here's hoping for a brighter future......

QFs

Ireland v Wales, Ireland to win,as the Wales team get lost going to the ground on golf buggies

England V France, France to win,Johnson to blame his players as they insult the rest of New Zealand,

South Africa v Australia, both teams to get red carded to ensure none of them have a full team to play against New Zealand.

New Zealand v Argentina,New Zealand to win but then get disqualified as they try to sneak a sponsors name on their jersey, and spend 4 years whinging about it.

You gotta be breaking balls, funny as it may be. So, Andy Powell who was responsible for that embarrassment has lost the first choice number 8 shirt as Faletau (to who if I had a sister, I'd have no probs if he fancied a go of her- but I havent, thank god). As your prediction for that games without an elaboration or analysis from past games, I'm guessing its wishful thinking on your part.

Firstly, Ireland are a team of Old Men. Nothing anyone can say can take away the quality of O'Gara and O'Driscoll, but do you really think BOD can do the business against Jonathan Davies and Jamie Roberts because I certainly dont. The whole of the welsh side is littered with super fit young players YET they have proven veterans in key places throughout every area of the team, we are playing and looking far better than the near-flawless 2008 Grand Slam and I must admit I get a bit of a chubby seeing the way we are playing currently. AND we ran in 21 tries in the last 2 group games, showing scorings not a problem

Secondly, Ireland WILL get destroyed in the scrum - even with 2nd choice Loosehead Paul James. Wales' scrum has been too good, look at how Adam Jones neutralised South Africa's so called "Beast" in the first half, then go on to have to better of him in the 2nd half shows the steel in the Welsh scrums bollocks and Huw Bennett's one of the best Scrummaging hookers around IMO. Then I'll go on to the fact that for the the first time (well since the 70's at least) WALES' LINEOUTS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY! Even with the brief big victories of the last 20 odd years Wales' line-outs always been fuckin' useless.

All the Irish getting lippy about they're chances are looking far to much into the Australia 'win'. Australia were absolutely awful, I'm sure Michael Lynagh said that was the Aussies worst ever World Cup game. Also, having Sean Fitzpatrick's tongue firmly planted up Wales' arse in the post-match analysis' really makes me think it may be our year. I am Welsh but I assure you I am not stupid- Wales'll beat Ireland soundly saturday, IF we draw England in the Semi's I reckon the Old Enemy'll be narrowly going home but I'm unsure about France. As long as we get to the final I'll be the happiest boyo in the world, but I dont think we'll beat the All Black on the last Sunday of October I'm afraid. Anyway enjoy the remaining games boys, because it is absolutely buzzing with anticipation round these here parts
