The day that I am not looking forward to my next trip to Amsterdam to get high and drink beer will be the day that I really am searching for a reason to live. Getting high in Amsterdam is when I feel truly free.

This thread does touch on an issue that i have been pondering. Where does an old guy buy pot when he lives in a prohibition state?

For me, Colorado even though it's 1000 miles away. It sucks but no contacts here in MN so that's my safest option. But the drive thru Nebraska is always tense as they love to nab criminals coming out of CO with 1/2 oz of bud.
Unfortunately, that only gives me a meager stash that has to last a year
More states need to wise up and legalize

Minn, I had pondered a drive to Colorado. And I don't have to go through Nebraska. However, the ride is 1400 miles, so two days each way. I have pondered whether taking my dog with me makes me less of a target or more of a target, on the drive home.

I think it might depend on how wasted your dog gets and if he/she can hold it together if you get pulled over..

Be fair – there's sod-all to do in Nebraska apart from count the passing tumbleweeds. They're probably confiscating it for their own use, as I can't see how anyone survives it without being smashed all the time. Are you saying half an ounce gets you through a year?
But scoring when elderly is a topic in itself. I suppose I'm luckier than most – I live in a city, a mate prides himself on being able to get anything (though he's more into everything but cannabis), there's a notshop that reliably sells very mediocre Moroccan hash (and really crappy bud), and a druggy pub I know about (again, probably easier to get coke or ket than a decent smoke). But it's a lot of hassle for little result, and nothing's guaranteed – you take what you can get, by and large. So for me it's easier to do a day or overnight to Mokum and enjoy a brief sojourn in civilisation, where there's choice, and no need to bother with anything you don't like – crappy smoke or stoner bullshit about what might or might not turn up. At less than £2 return, it's cheaper than going to the other side of town, but even at full whack the tobacco covers it. And all the stair climbing and no alcohol means it counts as an exercise regime.

Back to driving. It seems to me, that you ought to have an answer to these two questions, if you get pulled over.
1. Where are you coming from?
2. Why were you visiting Colorado?
No, in theory you don't have to answer those questions, but my experience will traffic stops generally is that being polite an friendly goes a long damn way.
So the reason I had thought about taking my dog (a German shepherd) is that she and I have traveled a great deal over the years, attending dog shows and training sessions. So for a long solo drive taking her with me just seems natural. But I also thought that I might research a training program, a dog show, or maybe just a breeder that I could claim that we had gone to visit, as an answer to the two questions. But I am interested in other thoughts.
