One of my travel parteners will be bringing her 'BlackBerry Bold' and wants to know if it will work there and what apps should she get?
I think she is mainly interested in texting back to Canada (that what she seems to be doing most of the time here... 
) and having a map on hand.
Any cost saving ideas?

get a dutch perpaid vodafone sim. I do the same. Internet flat is included! I think the blackberry is G3 and fits the european standard.

The phone will work, but she has to get a prepayed dutch vodafone sim card.
The sim card is 9,95Euros I think. You have to add the internet "bloX" for additional 9,95Euros.
Then she has mobile internet. With the mobile internet she can use facebook, twitter or any other chat/texting platform.
