Fine Dinning?

Post by Styl Eli »

Does anyone have any recommendations for fine dinning in Amsterdam?

I am always up for a culinary experience.

http://www.cielbleu.nl/ has 2 Michelin stars, in the Okura hotel
http://www.yamazato.nl/en/ has 1 Michelin star, also in the Okura hotel
http://www.restaurantvermeer.nl/en/Home has 1 Michelin star, in the Barbizon Palace opposite central station

Yamazato is my favorite, but I'm a big fan of Japanese, so that might have swayed me.
There are a couple of other Michelin starred restaurants in Amsterdam but I haven't tried them.

I have never eaten at a Michelin Star restaurant before. While I am in Paris I made a reservation here: http://www.lepergolese.com/#
Back in 2006 I had lunch at the Grands Palais in Paris with Chef Pascal Barbot of Astrance. He had only 2 stars at the time but 4 courses and a glass of wine for 35e was a pretty good deal.

What are the dress codes like in those type of restaurants? I'm on vacation and don't really want to bring to much clothing with me that I'm only going to wear for 1 night.

I was wearing a suit and an open necked shirt (no tie) as I was taken by business associates when I went to each restaurant. So I'm not sure on the exact policy.
I'm pretty sure that a decent pair of trousers, shirt will be fine.

The menu does look interesting and not too expensive. I may check this one out.

I'm thinking of going to Brasserie Vlaming on Prinsengracht. Suppose to be real fine dining and very good food/wine and friendly staff. And they do the best sticky toffee pudding ever.

I'm not a posh sort of person but I just wanna see what it's like being stoned and in a class place to eat.
