This sounds similar to what the Dutch are attempting to do. I for one support the closing of dispensaries that are located near schools and "specifically identified" areas where children congregate. If they are going down that road, they might as well go all the way and include establishments that sell alcohol and cigarettes as well.

Maybe Obama is waffling because the election is one year away and his handlers are "ill" advising him to win over certain demographic voters by turning his back on his previous MMJ policy. Doesn't much matter because he lost my vote some time ago - Guantanamo Bay (still opened); extended the Bush Tax Cuts; still paying for the lie called the Iraqi War; Wall Street criminals skated; and the list goes on...

Maybe time for Global Anarchy against the machine known as Capitalism?

Isn't it the responsibility of the parents to teach their children the dangers and benefits of drugs? If children aren't taught by the time they are school aged, the PARENTS have failed. This is the point in a child's life that the village takes over.

Although I agree that knowledge gained through proper education is needed, people are still going to do what they want to do, especially children. If they want to smoke or drink, they are going to do it. Remember when we were school aged?
I for one want to make it as difficult as possible for children to obtain these products. If this means that some businesses have to relocate, so be it. If a child's health and safety are so important, which they are, then there shouldn't be an argument against, but a discussion on where to relocate these businesses, and how the community can help. It is, after all, the communities decision to implement these laws and/or constructing schools near established businesses.

The kids wont be buying from dispensaries though so whats the point in moving them? having medical marijuana dispensaries near a school would allow said school to be enchouraged to educate them better, lets move regular Dr's away from schools as well especially seeing that the number of people who die or get addicted to precription pills is imo a bigger problem than some kids smoking a bit of pot.

I for one don't think the dispensaries are at fault, it's the knuckleheads who obtain their "medicine" and within 100 feet of leaving the place light up or.... I can see an 18yo high school senior with a doctor's prescription for weed standing around the corner from the dispensary at 4:20 peddling to their friends and others. Who wants to bet this isn't happening? As usual, pot smokers are their own worst enemy and at the root of it all is GREED.

I just think the whole MMJ system is out of control, this guy can get a crazy selection of goodies , delivered to the door like a pizza and the other guy is a criminal.
