Why I'm glad I'm not American

Greece is going bust because the money men are putting the squeeze on them. Their president had a moment of conscience and was going to do the right thing and let the public vote on if they should remain in the euro. This gave the powers that be the scare, Greece wanted out of the euro, it was then being mentioned on the news how important it was, and how all countries had a "vested" interest in Greece accepting this loan and it was even mentioned within the same news bulletin on bbc(government news) that the this could lead to possible wars and that the euro was setup to prevent a world war 3.

They were already laying the seeds then.

The beast is stretching its tentacles out now and taking control of more and more countries with loans that countries just can't refuse.

Not every level of government everywhere is corrupt. Yes some are worse than others, and everyone human is bound to make mistakes, but we are still free. People do what they want, that is the American dream. The reason we have big homes, cars, apetites, and smoke habbits is because our population density is so low in comparison to most other places. We have room for big things so some people just do that because they are free to. I will say the east coast here has similarities to Europe. Bad drivers, great pot, high population density, graffiti, a guy at work even has a bidet installed at father's home!

On a train journey from Milan to Rome once i got talking to this Italian guy (funnily enough) and after a few friendly exchanges he said "Do you mind if i ask a personal question? Is it true you dont have bidets in England?" When I answered, usually that's the case, yes, he whispered "So how do you clean your arse when you have a shit?" !! LOL

I think a lot of this is taken too personally, I am white causcasian and born in England but I have a lot of friends from all around the globe and I always say one thing, I am not British, because I do not think the same way as "British". I am simply me, no one can offend me by saying that England sucks, because simply it does. America sucks too. No one ever means the everyday people, but the nation as a whole and its projected personality.

That original post did hit on a lot of points on why America sucks, not the people that work and live in america, but the politics, the government, the federal reserve and the other conglomerate evil that exists.

The majority of us don't have the first idea of what our governments really get up to or what their intentions are, but they are people of greed and power, always on the hunt for more.

It worries me that so many are quick to follow the government in the name of the flag, when we have no idea if what the people in charge are doing really serves the flag. By blindly following the governments I think we give away so many of our basic rights.

Don't be American, Don't be British, Don't be where you come from, be yourself.

I think that a lot of the gnashing and clawing groups (countries, religions, ideologies, languages, color, teams) do to each other is just our primal safety-in-numbers instinct running away from us. Made sense 1,000,000 years ago and your group was fighting for resources (e.g., opening sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey).

Evolution ensured that the feelings (presented to us by our neurobiology, e.g., oxytocin) we feel doing successful group activities would survive over the eons. The level of intensity that we feel them (e.g., when your team wins) unfortunately doesn't match the modern world we live in- we create our own problems of inter-group conflict even when fighting over resources is such an unnecessary activity now. That is, until we over-populate and pollute the biosphere and diminish resources to the point that fighting seems ("feels" is the more appropriate word) like the "right thing" for their group to do.

1/ How can the country which invented Rock and Roll be in any way bad.
2/ Bob Dylan is a yank nuff said
3/America DID save our ass in the second world war, no questions and contributed to the first, although by the time America got involved the worst of the fighting was over.
4/ Yanks begun the Hippy philosophy and movement of which I am a full card carrying member and continue to eschew the Hippy ideal to this day and will do till the day I croak my last.
5/ My own country Scotland owes a great deal to rich Yanks holidaying and spending loads on Golf and Fishing, us Scots are smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds us.
6/ Who would have believed is 1965 with the civil rights movement and the peace and love envisaged by Martin Luther King amid a violent period in Americas history that 50 years later the same so called unprogressive country would elect a Black President.
7/ US Bonglord invented SPOON which although I have not or are unlikely to ever smoke, is revered on this site as a similar staus inventor to Thomas Edison

3/ Americans invented McDonalds and somehow persuaded the world they were good---nuff said

Yes America has some real rich assholes with no sympathy for poorer people but they are not holding a monopoly on that attribute, If I ever went to America I just know I would love the decent ordinary Yanks, the Appalachians, the normal hard working people who make up 90% of its population but as in any other money dominated society --go unheard.
