coffee shops & 17 years old
coffee shops & 17 years old
I'd like to spend a few days in Amsterdam with my 17 years old brother; If waiters allways ask for your ID, how can he stay with me in a coffee shop? Where could we enjoy a good joint together?
This might come across a bit harsh but please dont take your 17 year old brother into any coffeeshops, if they are caught with anyone under the age of 18 in them they could lose their liscense and/or get shut down.
Just get yourself something from the cs's and go and smoke it in Vondel Park or any place that allows marijuana smoking but doesn't sell it like Mr Coco's or even Barneys bistro (Not the main coffeeshop just a couple of doors down the road)

Without wanting to sound like a parrot and repeat what has already been said, but I too would strongly advise (and politely ask) that you do not take any underage people into a coffeeshop as it could ruin the experience for everyone.
Was in Pink Floyd yesterday when the police came in and searched everyone for passports or id (just imagine if they found an underage person there!!!!)

I take it there wasn't any underagers? If anything happened to my favourite coffeeshop then I'd have to hunt them down and do unspeakable things to them!!!Valo wrote:Was in Pink Floyd yesterday when the police came in and searched everyone for passports or id (just imagine if they found an underage person there!!!!)

I'm honestly not sure what happened here, it was yesterday morning and we were due to leave a few hours later so never got to go back and find out what happened (funny thing was, when leaving town up Damrak - there was a police van with 3 policemen standing in the doorway of Teasers suhering people out of the shop - same as Pink Floyd)Boner wrote:I take it there wasn't any underagers? The dealer in Pink Floyd seemed pretty chilled out as we left and didn't seem to be affected by the police checking the place out but it left a few tourists a little paranoid and a freaked out look on there face.
On the same topic, I thought the Dutch police were real friendly and once one of the guys saw about 7 English tourist's (myself included) looking a bit freaked, he was very reassuring and just asked to check our passports and follow another guy out the door........ "Don't forget to take your weed!"........word I never thought I would hear a policeman say

Cheers for that, I imagine I'd be pretty messed up if a copper came in while smoking. Was the dealer at Pink Floyds the Dutch or English guy? If it was the dutch guy then yeah he's cool as hell, when I went during my last trip he was talking to someone just outside and as i approached he looked at me and suddenly this huge smile crept across his face and he stretched his hand out for me to shake it and started asking how I'd been and how long I was in town, I went back a couple of days later and asked him how he was and he replied he was better for seeing a familiar faceValo wrote:I'm honestly not sure what happened here, it was yesterday morning and we were due to leave a few hours later so never got to go back and find out what happened (funny thing was, when leaving town up Damrak - there was a police van with 3 policemen standing in the doorway of Teasers suhering people out of the shop - same as Pink Floyd)Boner wrote:I take it there wasn't any underagers? It was the Dutch guy, Richard. Like you said, a great guy to be in the company of. He remebered myself and my buddy from 2 previous visits and treats us like long time friends and is always very happy and talkative.Boner wrote:Was the dealer at Pink Floyds the Dutch or English guy?
I have seen the English guy in there a couple of times (usually wearing a football shirt to go with his skinhead) - not an unfriendly guy, but if my first experience was with this dealer instead of Richard, I would not have made such an effort to return in the future.

Yeah I've met the English (Football hooligan) once and although he seems alright he doesn't really sell you the goods like the Dutch dude (Richard eh? I didn't know that!)Valo wrote:It was the Dutch guy, Richard. Like you said, a great guy to be in the company of.
