Too much! Probably about 35 to 40 euros whereas the train is less than 4 euros.

We hired a taxi from Herengracht (near Siberie coffee shop) to take us to the airport and it was worth every overly expensive euro we paid to get there just so I didn't have to ride that wretched ass train dragging luggage. It was 48 Euro - too expensive but worth it for my old fat ass not to have to deal with that train.

Use the Shuttle buses that run every 15 minutes or so to any hotel for 14/15 Euros.

The shuttle is my favorite way to get from Schipohl to the hotel and back at 25 euro roundtrip. The best part is that if there are other passengers, you get a mini-tour and a chance to talk to other Amsterdam visitors. Check this out: http://www.airporthotelshuttle.nl/site/home.asp.

The train that leaves for the airport from 13a is always packed to the rafters,I to tred the journey back to schiphol with luggage.

I avoid any direct link between Schipohl and Centraal Station as a route to my hotel. Dragging luggage from Centraal Station is asking for trouble, I've been ripped off by taxi drivers and had a friend whose pocket became lighter at the station. I want a ride from the airport directly to the hotel. When I hit Schipohl, I'm tired after a long flight so I want a real easy, no hassle trip to the hotel. The shuttle does that.

I asked a taxi driver outside the AH at the bottom of raadhuisturaat & he was like 50 ah euro,,,, Needless to say i was on the next train .

we used a lot of cabs while we were there to get around, we found that taxi drivers differed and some where more honest and took a more direct route than others, the same trip from the center back to our apt ranged from 12 euro to 25 euro.

I normally take the train in, but do not wish to deal with it on the way home. Just get me to the airport, particularly if it is an early flight.

train is the best.... and prolly faster.... the only pain in the ass is getting up and down the stairs @ centrum if you have a bunch of suitcases.... but for 5 euros.... vs. 50.... cant complain too much
