Just trying to keep the peace and yes I do have too much spare time but I dont really see what thats got to do with anything, like I mentioned earlier I dont edit, censor or delete anything anyone writes, at absolute worse I'll normally drop them a pm asking them for example "to bite their tongue for the sake of peace."

Re: the Israel thread I only ever saw the first post, Adamster's a troll and people should just ignore him and if you have a problem get in touch with Lemming as he's the only person who should decide what to do, I can only 'moderate' the other section btw.

I have contacted Lemming.
If people don't oppose obvious racism and bigotry, it grows like a cancer.
So ignoring him this time is not the way to go IMO.
I've always managed to ignore him in the past, but he went way too far this time.

Bottom line have some respect for Lemmings and his golden rule. This isn't the place to sit around arguing and bitching at each other. Go to some other forum to act like an asshole because this is mostly a peaceful community. mellow out, smoke a joint and if you have nothing positive to add, just don't...

Just because you have the freedom and the right to say doesn't make it RIGHT to fly off the handle and insult everyone and everything.

There are forums to go argue and act like an assbag. Find one those of you that are here to start shit. Leave this peaceful place for those of us that actually help kick in some financial support to keep it going and have something positive to add here.

There's enough negative in the world, I find this place a haven away from all that. So a few asshats aren't gonna ruin this place for the rest of us that like it here.

I don't consider myself "so sensitive", but you really don't need to be that sensitive, or Jewish, or Israeli, to find what he said pretty offensive.
I'm a lot of things, but I am not a Nazi, about as liberal and as far from it as possible actually.
The connotation of the word Nazi is enough to offend most of us, at least I hope it is!

That original post offended everyone, I suggest, by it's obviously belligerent tone coupled with the oversize capitalization of the word 'NAZI' in relation to Israeli jews. Correct? What that poster apparently does not realise is that any mention of 'ze nazis' in relation to any modern day political phenomenon and you've instantly lost all credibility for your argument! That simply is a word that has been effectively 'taboo'd' out of useability! People really do need to get a grip and express themselves minus all the chaff if there is something they wish to communicate!

God, when everyone identifies themselves with their opinions it's so easy to get offended for goodness' sake! My opinions change pretty frequently yet I believe I basically remain the same. i.e. I am not my opinions. If someone attacks what I say it's what i say that they're attacking, not me. They know next to diddly squat about me. This is why I support what DazedandconfusedinOr said about people being too sensitive. That 'sensitivity' acts as a kind of censorship that passively intimidates people into not telling their truth for fear of crossing a line of some kind..

I think this has become an especially big deal because of the highly sensitive nature of the Israel-Palestine debate. This is a matter of the utmost gravity and one which should not be spoken about flippantly or in an inflammatory manner - tempers are already frayed on this one... Yet it should definitely be be spoken about - calmly and clearly.

I would invite the person whose post ignited this issue to 'redeem' himself by carefully re-framing his original post here, without epithets or bigotry and with clarity as to the basis for what he is saying...

Regarding the original thread about hash in Israel, I think hijacking a thread with an off-topic political comment is, at best, impolite. Piling in with further provocative remarks is obviously not calculated to promote harmony either and attacking another member with threats of violence is clearly a violation of the Golden Rule.

I've now tidied up that thread.

Personally I can't see why a bunch of stoners shouldn't be able to debate the Israel/Palestine issue in a civilised manner here in Off-Topic but I take Boner's point that such debates can degenerate into name-calling.

I think it's only fair that Boner should decide whether to allow such a topic as he'll finish up refereeing if it gets out of hand.
