Discussion de paix et paisible.

Re: Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
for those llike me that dont speak french
My friend, it would be a good idea if you would moderate the way you express. If I understand correctly your first language is French? I think it would be a good idea for you to admit that the word 'Nazi' is too emotional for a productive discussion. I think you really have something to say, but you damage your argument using some terminology. I would invite you to express in a more gentle for a good discussion can occur, rather than a battle!
I apologize for my mistakes in French and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say?
Discussion of peace and quiet.

Having discussed the matter with a couple of younger children I have this to say about the Harry Potter series:
Rowling's writing is even more inept than Dan Brown's in her lazy reliance on tired tropes and uninspiring characterisations. It is a fucking scandal and huge tragedy that the first taste of literature our young generation gets is her listless and popularist drivel, full of prose not fit for Enid Blyton's dustbin!

Re: Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
"Enid Blyton", now there was a right wing, sexist, racist, class driven, power crazed, control freak of a woman, who wasn't even that keen on her own weans (Kids) if the reports are to be believed....but there was always 'lashings of ginger beer' stuff going around to keep Enid happy, .....if the other stories are also to be believed....

Re: Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
Nobody should be be hijacking threads or whatever, just saying...Adamster wrote:ill stop high-jacking too make you ppl happy!..but im still gonna use my FREEDOM OF speach on you all ...
What freedom of speech are you referring to? If you are a citizen of the US, you may want to (re)read the Constitution especially the First Amendment. Nowhere does it guarantee you the right to say anything you want to anyone. Ever hear of Libel and Slander? If speech were truly free then these and similar laws wouldn't exist. Next....
I am in favor of a two State solution as it pertains to Israel and Palestine. What disturbs me most is how the Israelis have handled this whole situation. It has become a Goliath vs. David, think about it for a while...
In recent years Israel has used tactics and techniques that are similar in nature to those used by oppressive regimes throughout history, most notably in Europe in the 20's, 30's, and 40's. Examples can also be found throughout Southeast Asia.
I think I basically captured what you had stated. No use of inflammatory language, and not because I'm trying to be politically correct. I chose these words because they explained my thoughts concisely and without being offensive. Nearly as important, this forum really isn't the place for hate mongering, slash and dash, and all that. Sure there is a section to discuss anything, especially not related to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, or weed, but it doesn't mean that inflammatory remarks which cause nothing but problems instead of solutions are warranted.
Again, there is a difference between what one can do and what one should do, the difficulty lies in knowing the difference and acting accordingly.
Happy Trails,

Currently reading to my little one. Her sentence structure leaves a lot to be desired. There is no rhyme or metre to any of the prose it just crashes and falls all over itself. The stories aren't bad but the presentation let's it down - I blame the editor.CannaSir wrote:Having discussed the matter with a couple of younger children I have this to say about the Harry Potter series:

@ Adamster try fascist rather than nazi - "In this sense, the word fascist is intended to mean "oppressive", "intolerant", "chauvinist", "genocidal", "dictatorial", "racist", or "aggressive"" (wiki). Less emotive and fits yr remit. Now get back to the absinthe, I expect some fine ranting from you.
