Saw this on the controversy thread "Adamster", pretty sure it was "Twichaldinho" that gave the link.
Yeah, as so many people have said it's a bad situation all around. The one thing for sure it does show, is the hypocracy that so many countries show when it come to the crunch.
Good on you Iceland, i could almost forgive you for them volcanoes, but hay, i still want you to pay back all the money you borrowed!!! But nothing will change, indeed i think it will get a damn site worse unless all the people living in and around Israel are treated fairly and with respect.
Most importantly, this has to come from all the people no matter what country or religion they represent.
So it's a tall order.... with all the politics of the area, agendas, greed, bigotry, daily growing resentment, religious fanaticism on all sides within and outwith the area, the barriers to peace go on and on unfortunately.
Many, if not all Middle Eastern countries should also take a good look at themselves in regard to the whole regional politics game, not just the problems revolving around Israel and disputed territories, but also their growing internal problems and especially Iran.
There is no doubt in my mind that if Iran continues down the road towards developing nuclear weapons, despite their stance that this is not the case, but for nuclear energy production, those plants enriching the uranium will get seriously dented by the Israeli or U.S. government and i'm sure many of the ruling families/tribal leaders/puppets in the area would also be delighted about this, but their mouths as per usual will stay shut. Can't be seen to be on the side of the U.S. and especially never Israel even though they most certainly don't want Iran to have Nuclear weapons, or any more power in the region than they have already. But when an attack comes (I'm sure they'll use a much nicer word) to stop Iran from deciding what it's going to do with it's new found Nuclear capability, the region will be in uproar.
All of the Arab league countries are going to have to sit up and take more responsibilty or fuck knows where it will lead. But who's to say that's not what's scaring the shite out of the movers and shakers there and around the world anyway. Better the devil you know.....
That's what I loved about "Wikileaks", all the shit they were saying about each other was suddenly out in the open. More of it and i'm sure some would have been embrassed into action to right some wrongs.
Not the same i know, but look at when "Obama's" and "Sarkozy's" conversation about "Netanyahu" was overheard because nobody told them the mics were on. It's all, "that guy's a lying prick, i'm sick of the sight of him", "You're sick of him, he keeps promising to stop building settlements in places they shouldn't and then he smiles at me!" (This is not an accurate reflection of the conversation, but a possible direction and gist of it!!!!!!!)
It's like the Emperor's new clothes, no one allowed to say, "He's in the nip!!". Lest you upset some people and don't get re-elected.....
Maybe now that "Iceland" has voted to recognise "Palestine", a few more will join in and possibly the debate can move forward. But the "Palestinians" have to play their part and not get involved in the tit for tat game no matter how much provocation they get put under, or by being influenced by others, as difficult as this may be. Victories can be won with camera phones, Youtube, Facebook and taking the moral high ground these day, shaming people into behaving properly.
For every country/people to live peacefully in the region (and none of them are going away, no matter what some might pray for) so many rights and wrongs are going to have to be looked at on all sides.
It's equally complicated and fucked up and it might just see us all off one day.....it's been a grave yard for far too many.
