Yes and no. You can buy GVB transportation passes at Schiphol but they are not valid for the train. You have to buy a separate train ticket and it's less than 4 euros one way.

Yeah, you can buy a train ticket at the airport either from a ticket counter or one of the automated yellow ticket machines. I think it costs slightly more at the ticket counters, but if you're worried about getting the right one it might be worth it. You can also buy the GVB public transportation passes (24, 48, 72, hours, etc) at the yellow ticket machines as well or at any VVV tourist office (there's one at the airport or right outside Centraal Station). Those passes are good for busses, trams, and the metro but not regular trains. VVV will also have a transportation system map/brochure.

Still €3,90 if you can operate the kiosk and print your own ticket. The €0,30 window charge is right there on the ticket.

if you have a Anonymous Ov ChipKaart you *CAN* pay your train fare on it, just touch in on the Chipkaart readers at Schiphol Station and out again when you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal station. You must have a minimum of €20 credit or you wont be able to use it.
