Dam Veterans - What is your MUST DO?

Post by Ste_1 »

Everyone who's been to the dam a good few times, what is on your must do/see/taste list?

Ill start;
  • Visti De Kuil / 420 Cafe
    Enjoy a steak
    Buy Amnesia Haze from Central
Not a big list or anything special, but I wanted to see what everyone else's was too to see you could inspire me!

Go to the back of Stones Cafe in the Summer, sit outside with a drink and a spliff and watch the ugliest professional ladies in the RLD ply their trade.
The Chinese floating restaurant is really ace and worth it for the view alone.
Walk through the gorgeous Jordaan and Spui areas and sample some of their fine coffeeshops, Siberie and Dutchflowers, being two of my faves.
Get yourself down to the Albert Cuyp market for a CS tour, and then attempt to find your way back home.
I be chillin on the beach in the South of Venice
Or merking the President live on Channel 7

I never go to Amsterdam without my first and only tradition of going slightly "white" after my first spliff... Then i walk it off for an hour or two... Then i find out where i am... Then i go into the nearest CS, buy whats good, then go to bed... Day two is when i actually start my hols.

A little bit of time in Katsu then down to the Carousel for Pancakes.
I would much rather be happy than right any time.

Me too, then trot down to Amnesia and sit in there enjoying a few spliffs. I know some of the staff in there and they're really lovely so nice to hang out there.
I'll sometimes take a canal boat as I love sitting there stoned, great way to relax. Or sitting in Vondelpark with a spliff or two. And being a woman I like to shop!!

I also like going to Kantjil en de Tigger which is an Indonesian restaurant/bistro - quite casual - for some Sate Chicken and Jasmine rice and tend to go eary evening before it gets too busy. Then I'll head to Rokerij (by Leidseplein) as they have a DJ in there playing some great music on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sometimes I'll go out to a gin tasting place (Wynand Fockink) with a friend who lives on Oudezijds Voorburgwal (at the University end, not the RLD end!).

Most of my weed I buy in Grey Area, Basjoe or Dampkring (ex Pink Floyd). Will be trying out Voyagers next visit.

Just over 2 weeks until I go for New Years Eve. Will be meeting up with some Dutchie friends and we're planning to spend 100 euros on fireworks which we'll let off in Nieuwmarkt. Can't wait!

Go into a coffeeshop by myself and engage in conversations with fellow stoners from not just Holland but from around the world and talk a load of old baloney, pure bliss.I love festivals and free parties and when in the 'Dam this is how I like to consider my visit.

MUST DO's:

 get chips from the 'mannekin pis' shop on damrak. with frite saus, not mayo.

 drink only small beers. dutch/belgian beer genuinly tastes better in the small glasses. why? i dont know why, but it does.

 say please and thankyou in dutch. Aus-yoo-brift and dank-ooo-vel. always gets a smile form the server.

 hot chocolates from the rokerij. hot chocomel and squirty cream. yum.

 visit another town for a day/afternoon, whilst in holland. centraal station is your gateway to so many cool dutch towns. and its such a small place (compared to some), you can be in the other end of the country in a couple of hours.

 stroopwaffles. litterally the best biscuit snack thing ever. look for freshly made ones.
