well, the other politicians are racists as well, since they send troops to fight their stupid wars just because they dont care about their lives.....this is no racism because of your skin-color but because of what you were born into, not any better to me ;)

I've been a huge Ron Paul supporter for a long time. The claims that he's a racist are absolutely ridiculous. He didn't write the stuff in those newsletters. He has repeatedly said this, it's nothing new like the media is trying to make out. And yes, I have read the aforementioned newsletters, the text doesn't sound anything like him. I think it really says something about his character that the only thing they can find to smear him on are some newsletters from twenty years ago. There has never been another political candidate that I actually agree with everything they say. He's the best chance the United States has for getting out of the mess our government has gotten us into. Honestly, even if he was a racist, I wouldn't particularly care, as I don't think it would have any effect on how he would act as president.
With all that stated, I won't be posting anything else in this thread, as I have no desire to turn this forum into a political debate. Shouldn't this post be in the off topic - Politricks page? I had considered posting something about him there before, as I would think most of the people on this forum would support him wholeheartedly. There certainly aren't any other candidates that are going to do anything to further the cause of legalization/decriminalization of marijuana here in the states.

RON PAUL IN 2012!

@bigjames.... This thread is meant to fall under Campaigning. We have to campaign for people who support MMJ & Legalization.

Great, you found one brother who does not think he is racist.

The fact is, its even more scary if such things were written by someone else and got into the RON PAUL newsletter. If he did not read it, then he is even more less fit to be presdient.

That is the last think I will say, because if any of your REALLY think Ran Paul has a chance then I have a wonderful 3 bedroom basement apartment in Amsterdam you can have for a song.

I just can't stand the guy's 'No Safety Net' schtick, because I believe that civilised countries should provide a baseline of protective services for those who fall to the bottom of the pile, whether by bad luck, but even if they are feckless and self-destructive. You can't save people from themselves, but you can see they get a home, healthcare and some support, given how impossible it is to live on UK benefits, and I understand US levels are even more stringent, it is a myth to say that those on benefits see it as a positive lifestyle choice, "scrounging". Anyone who does have that outlook has just had their aspirations ground down to almost nothing. Oh my bleeding heart.

Just because RP is correct on weed, doesn't mean he is correct on anything else, besides, the USA isn't allowed to turn isolationist again until it has fixed all the shit it caused by being interventionist.

Spot on.

He is against landmark Civil Rights legislation, etc. etc. Just another tea bagger with a few good ideas, imho.

I believe civilized people will provide protective services. Personally I want to give everyone who does huge raises to better reflect our horrible inflation rate. I'm all for paying my taxes to go to great humanity causes. Lets pull every federal dollar out of Germany. Hitler is long dead, and prolly feel better off without us there.
We don't even control our own dollar the rabbit hole is very deep....

Yes it does, that branches of to tons of other topics... crime, poverty level, quality of life.

I am sorry, but you really believe that inflation is horrible? Its very low, in fact its Germany's obsession with inflation that has caused a lot of the short-term mess in the Euro right now.

Ron Paul is against much of what the moderate Dutch political culture stands for. Of course I realize he is not Dutch, but if one appreciates the European model, then Ron Paul is quite the opposite.
