You get a bowl of rice and a load of smaller samples of various differant dishes, it's from Indonesia and is quite spicy but so so delish.

Yeah pretty sure there's quite a few chinese places that do that, Warmoestraat or maybe down the Korte Leidsedwarsstraat/Lange Leidsedwarsstraat area.

I'm down on rijstafel now. I find that all the little dishes taste the same after a while. My last one was at TempoeDoeloe.

lots of Indonesian food in Amsterdam, probably the closest thing your get to having that type of food without going to Indonesia.

Tempo doeloe is one of the best and was featured on The layover travel program.

Don't go to anywhere doing both Chinese and Indonesian food, it will most like be crap. Also avoid Sarang Mas on Damrak, used to be amazing about 10-15 years ago and now terrible.

My Indonesian friend tells me the most authentic place for Indonesian is Bojo [Lange Leidsedwarsstraat 49], and this was verified by another Indonesian chap I met but sadly it was shut the when I went :( (hint - it opens at 16:00!)

If you want to try Indonesian with a modern spin on it try Blauw [Amstelveenseweg 158] highly rated.

Both places will do you a rijstafel, which for those who asked is really a Dutch creation from when Indonesia was a Dutch Colony to sample lots of different dishes.

Thanks fr the info Aaron!!

Bojo or Langa Pura will definitely be on my list fr my next visit as I am a true Asian food junkie!!

I had my first Rijstafel with my parents in Amsterdam in a place that no longer exists called "Sedap", that must have been in 1992...tremendous memories, excellent food!

No disrespect, but I really think that in Bojo I ate the worst food ever. And I mean not in Amsterdam, but in my whole life
Me and my gf both love eastern food, but guys believe me, it was like eating fried cardboard and we couldn't even had a beer with that shit, since they don't sell alcohol  .
When we're in Amsterdam, I still use Bojo as a threat to my gf when she pisses me off

I really like Sama Sebo. PC Hoofstraat 27.

They've been there for 40 years or so, so they must be doing something right.
