The DAM EXPRESS stopped running back in 2004 because of the cheap flights operated by EasyJet and similar companies trying to outbid each other to cater for the low cost air travel market. Today because of increased airport taxes, very tight security, limited baggage, limited duty free allowances and increased service/ baggage charges their costs have risen considerably thereby losing their competitive edge. Arranging your own Hotel accommodation can also be complex and can cost more than expected. Taking into account costs and time to travel to airports, car parking fees, long queues at check-in and passport control, additional costs of rail travel or public transport to get to the city centre or to your accommodation, flying is no longer as cheap and convenient as it was.

Done the journey twice on a bus and even if it was free I'd choose flying over it everytime.

It's OK when you're young and every penny counts.
Some 4 or 5 years ago a friend of mine (in his late 40's) made the mistake of getting a weekend "Special" all in deal from London to Mokum. Turned out to be a RAVE "special" which became apparent before the bus had even left the terminus and the driver cranked up the trance
.
Poor bugger, he still gets flash-backs.
