Re: It's time to end the failed war on drugs
Thanks Boner. Interesting and to me not surprising that the article is in the Daily Telegraph. A conservative leaning paper, but not right wing (I used to read it when I bought it for the cryptic crossword). It's positioned very much where this Government, and many of it's political supporters are at.
Lets hope they read it and it chimes with their own observations. The study itself is a United Nations initiative, and I assume the same view Bichard Branson is advancing is not restricted to the UK.
I'm not getting over excited yet but I think it's all positive.
In my view no single Government in the World will stick their neck out on their own over this. After all the whole global drug prohibition thing is at UN level.

What a long strange trip it is.

Some very interesting debates going on now.. There is hope, but I won't hold my breath because this coalition government that we have now just don't have the balls to admit that prohibition is not working, and never has
50 years of prohibition, £1 trillion spent fighting "The war on drugs" and all we have to show for it is Increased drug use across the board and jails overflowing with victimless criminals

Re: It's time to end the failed war on drugs
Wish I could be optimistic.
The government called it a war on drugs. And we took sides.
But it is a war on our personal freedom, government controlling us, telling you & me what we can do to our bodies, what's good for us.
Would that convince an anti-drug person to legislate for our freedoms?
Hmm... how come no "Occupy the War on Drugs!"???
MJ aroma seemed to be described as omnipresent at those gatherings.
