A Jazzy kind of coffeeshop?
I was thinking of a type of coffeeshop I'd like to visit, but I don't know if it exists.
So, let me know if this sounds like a place you know of and, if so, where and what is the name of the shop?
Nice fluffy couches, ok drinks(tapas nice as well but not required), jazz or blues, real old "tea drinking viper" material in the speakers, at least good weed or tolerance of bringing in other weed.
Sound familiar?

Did you think you'd get rid of me that easily?

No, I can't think of anything that fits your description. Not many shops play jazz aside from Basjoe, not sure if they still do. There are only a few shops that sell food; Paradox, Barney's & Amnesia. Have a look at this thread for shops with food, https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... =3&t=19598 Kashmir Lounge not CS, might have the feel you are after.
Peace
Peace
Are you stoned? Like a gravel road bitch, like a gravel road!

As much as I'd love to hear some Coltrane, Sonny Clark, or Hank Mobley playing out a coffeeshop sound system, I've yet to hear it in any shop I've been in. You'll have to supply your own tunes if that's what your looking for while smoking....

Trance and the like may be as close as you're going to get.
Cheers Balou for the Kashmir Lounge suggestion.
Also, props for homegirl Esperanza Spalding...

In my experience your best chance would be Jolly Joker.
I've heard all sorts in there from Steely Dan to Dave Grusin and the Warlocks (I think Norwegian hip hop).
I have also heard jazz played in coffee shop 137.
Good luck and report back should you find anywhere else.

and some Miles Davis... that would be so lovely. Unfortunately I've never heard jazz in a coffeeshop.
Because life is too short to smoke bad bud.

If you come across this place, let me know. For me, the old Basjoes was the closest to what you're describing there. Now I'm looking for a replacement

Hill St. at the Market -particularly early in the day .
de Graal - Definitely gets the couchiness . Remember the guy there asking ME what I'd like to hear . I said how about a little
Gil Evans ...and there it was .
the little Kadinsky -(by the Allard Piersen ) Does NOT get the couchiness award . But remember going upstairs in a little room and hearing Miles Davis / Charlie Mingus stuff for a good half hour straight. Whilst watching the world go by thru this window ...

Re: A Jazzy kind of coffeeshop?
Nice thread, yes some nice jazz would go down a treat.
Some Ella and Louis sounds perfect.
I am put off most coffeeshops by the music, out of all of them you'd think just one might play something a bit different. Jazz or classical would bring the likes of me in and get my business.
I find it difficult to spend any great length of time in coffeeshops where they play hiphop, trance, house etc at ridiculously high volumes.
There's a niche market out there waiting to be tapped into.

Happened once, it was late night at the Kadinsky close to the Damrak. Don't think it's the norm tbh

I wonder. Do you guys recall what they play at Voyagers? And do you think that if you brought a CD and begged, pleaded, and cajoled that HB might be persuaded to toss in some jazz, maybe? Or something other that trance/dubstep/whatever-the-kids-are-listening-to?
Did you think you'd get rid of me that easily?

Being high is simply grand
Re: A Jazzy kind of coffeeshop?
Try Solo and/or Stix I've heard jazzy music in both shops, I can't name names as it isn't really my genre.
