Food/eating advice for amsterdam please

Post by timj »

Hi can somebody help with advice for vegetarians in amsterdam please? Dont really want to go to just veggie restaurants (as we have meat eating people in the group to)

But just decent places to eat that have veggie secltions on the menu to? (ive been to amsterdam many times, and the veggie options in most places is dire!) Just normal things like lasagne, pizza, pasta, pie with chips i have found very hard to find over there...

Can anybody tell me if maoz falafel on damrak is still open please?

I have been reading this whole section and have worked out that stroopwaffles are a must! Unfortunatly burgermeester looks abit to far away for us to walk to (we are staying right next to central station) would love to try vleminckx frites to but again the shop seems so far away from damrak (everywhere decent i have found is very much south of dam sqaure...which looks a good walk away from our hotel)

So any tips on places that serve good quality meat & veggie food would be great...

thanks

Yes Maoz is still there. You're are not the first with this question. Use the search or read through the food forum. Also, Burgermeister migth be worth a go as well since they have a veggie burger.

Peace

Thanks mate, good to know its still there, looks like good food for me and my mates.

I have read every page on the food forum here, but some of the questions go back to 2007 so i thought id ask for some uptodate info (tripadvisor is the same)

I would love to try out burgermeister but it looks so far on the map and i doubt i can convince the group to walk that far :(

Where do the locals go to eat?, there arent many of the nando's, chiquitos, tgi fridays franchise type places over in dam are there? they usually have a veggie burger or lasagne option, while still catering for meat eaters aswell...(i cant take them to a veggie only place..that would be like punishment for them lol)

Don't let distance scare you...anywhere is reachable in just a few minutes using the wonderful tram system!

Searching this forum, I've found the following links posted in similar topics:

I'm surprised no one mentioned Paradox.

You do have a Hard Rock Cafe but never been so not entirely sure about the quality a few friends of mine have been and said it was nice enough and had a bit for you to sit outside too.

We are hoping to make it along to this place, when out in 2 weeks. My boyfriend is veggie this seems to have a really good range of foods.

I'm not a massive fan of food in Amsterdam really, we usually get apartments and eat alot from our apartment. New York pizza is ALWAYS a stop off me though :)
