I know this is a long-shot, but is there anywhere to get a decent bowl of Pho?
Probably not, wrong colony, but a girl can hope.

I'll have to keep an eye on this thread. If you're ever in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, try

Balou- happily noted!
If you're even in the DC metro area- (where there are a million amazing Pho places) My favorite is
Pho, 75
3103 Graham Road, Falls Church
I used to get good Pho in Paris in the 20th, but I haven't been back there in 8 years so I'm loathe to recommend.

Following closely also!!
This dish is one of my faves, so delicate with a myriad of aromas and textures...everyone should have had a Phô in his life

!!a true culinary orgasm
as for Paris, Tricotin (13rd district) is a true classic!!
Don't expect a classy restaurant, but service is extremly quick, excellent fresh food, cheap prices...as it should be in fact!Tons of other excellent hidden holes in the wall in that district.
At home this is a quite easy thing to cook really...the thing is that you need to gather tons of fresh stuff to make the perfect Phô.I usually cook a large amount of ox tail's stock with the paste and star anise and then freeze in portions.

How was the other food? I'm leaning towards trying the "Welcome" one...

I found some decent Pho and Vietnamese food in general at Saigon Cafe. It's on the Leidsestraat next door to McDonald's. They also have a lounge serving Bols Jenever cocktails, try the Caipinevra.

Here is my favorite "Master Stock" recipe that can be used for many flavorful dishes. It makes a killer eisbein, as well as an incredible Pho stock. Look for "Master Stock" on attached page:

Being a Pho virgin I took alpen rock's advice and went to Tricotin (13th arr, Paris) and it was great. A great big bowl of it! Took some eating though - I was sweating like scouser before a spelling test by the time I finished it.
Thanks for the advice.
