i like vlcx too but the fries i got at manneken pis were a bit more brown/crisp. I like the vlaamse mayonnaise, it has a little bite more lemon in it

edit: ive never seen a big line of people at vlcx, at manneken pis i always had to wait at least ten minutes, they collect the orders (and money), and when a new (big) batch of fries is done, they serve the fries. plus the fact that they always have a huge bowl of diced onions shows how many dutch customers tey have

give it a try

So, I am a complete failure on the frites front, but can remind y'all that the Westermarkt frites place is closed on Sundays.

I ate great thai, steak, nuts, chocolate, and fruit though, so if anyone needs to know about those things  :)

The 'chippy' next to the Bulldog Hotel.

5 euros for a big cone of fries, a huge sausage, and as much sauce as you want.

I agree with most prior posters about the place on Voetboogstraat, by dampkring. Though in a more touristy area, 1-2 blocks Northwest of Leidseplein is a french fry stand that is open late. I reckon their fries are super solid. I hav almost always made a pilgramage there during my prior 13 dam trips over the past 11 years. Alas, I tried searching for some 10 mins and can't seem to find the name of the place. I will obtain said name and exact location in 2 weeks during my upcoming solo adventure. How can you go wrong with sate sauce--> my personal fave!
