Except Russia - being the only country that's even bigger than Canada. Would it be rude to add 'Inuits with accents like cartoon characters' to your list of Canadian charms?Adamster wrote: i could keep going ....canada so big nobody comes close

I loath "memes" mostly because you have to take them at face value, and the world simply doesn't work like that. Everything has depth. The one below will be the last ill post on ACD.
On the topic of wealth redistribution. You're right. The richest, often become rich, because of fun accounting tricks that allow redistribution of their costs. For instance the American Interstate system, was a nice stepping stone for any companies looking to expand beyond regional markets. The bill paid for by the tax payer, because he is foolish enough to think he benefits the 1 or 2 times a year he gets to use them to commute on a vacation or visit Aunt Ruth. I suppose to be fair, he does get to buy more stuff, so I'm not apposed to the roads themselves, just who pays for building, and maintenance. The other more commonly mentioned scenario is Walmart being subsidized with food stamps for their employees who aren't paid a "living wage" I say pay them the same, and get rid of food stamps, maybe that will force them to find better employment, a trade, or their own business...or die trying like the rest of us, there equalitygronin wrote:
Of course the US already leads the way in wealth redistribution - from poor to rich. That said, the young lady in the picture probably uses her Apple Mac with Facebook/Twitter to moan about capitalism whilst ignoring the very capitalistic nature of all those companies. Did you know that Holland actually has decreasing inequality in money terms? The home of Shell Oil, Philips, ING et al. could hardly be described as Socialist.
Well, spank my ass and call me misguided!!!redeyezman wrote: Like good weed, socialism has no boarders too. It is in the hearts of misguided people.

Ah but theres the rub to the utopian dream, the system, any system has to justify and defend itself against those other systems and people that would diagree with it. As it in fact disagrees with and would seek to subvert them.![]()
Didn't Stalin totally bastardise the socialist agenda, by insisting on crow-barring in a hefty wadge of communist ideals into the mix?spidergawd wrote:I used to be quite taken with the socialist ideal long ago, until I understood about Stalin and the nature of one trick regimes around the world.
It (socialism) is flawless on paper, I will give you that....However, bring in a few cold heart fucks, self interest fucks, and its game over for basically everyone else. Democracy not much better....51% (or in great state of FL 60%) rule the 49%....Funny how democracy allowed the war on drugs, and now that same flawed system is going to fix it? Get over your self, indeed. A republic requires "the people" know the laws, instead of whats on sale at stores, so that's problematic too...KeyMonCha wrote:Well, spank my ass and call me misguided!!!redeyezman wrote: Like good weed, socialism has no boarders too. ...Nothing wrong with socialism... Just a shame so many manage to escape it's inherent fairness with lawyers and bribes.
...I'm speaking from experience here, in a socialist(apparently) nation.... When it's allowed to work unhindered, it does.
