Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G13
Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
Not quite a continuation of the trip report, but having arrived home I've now made my latest pickup and now have 5 new additions to my collection. Aptly for the title of this thread, one of them is G13. Others are Super Lemon Haze, Psychosis, Jack Herer and Blueberry. Half an O of each. All lovely.
Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
So where was I then? Where am I now? Lets see just how bad cannabis is for memory function...Smirks wrote:Have landed back in Gatwick and on train home. So to pick up where I left off, I arrive in Dampkring and the crew have occupied the front part of the shop. The only non ACDer in this area was the shop cat, permanently stoned and basking in the sunshine through the window.
Ron, Marty, Arsonist, DrugsBunny, Trad, Keychains, Gromit, Gapie, Blueberry, Colina, Omnibuzz and a few others were there. An hour or so Lemming arrives and we head off to wave at the webcam. As we're waving the heavens open up and a downpour starts. By this time the group breaks into smaller units and I end up with the bong brigade, full pull officer Gapie at the helm leading us through the rain to the haven that is Utopia; and the promise of free coffees all round. So the next hour or so drying off, hitting the Roor. Bought some Grand Cru hash. Yum.
By 3.45 a few others have turned up, including FlybyNite. It all gets a bit stoner indecisive at this point. Where to do 420?
Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
So the 420 choices were
a) 420 de Kuil
b) Grey Area
c) Weed Protest
Nobody in the group seemed particularly interested in a), Gapie was quite keen on b) and although a few people were interested in c), not knowing where it was taking place complicated matters.
Amongst those who had joined the group was Fly By Nite and although he didn't know where c) was taking place either, he did know how to find out, as the details has just been released online. By the time we had found out that it was taking place near Waterlooplein, it was after 4pm and any decision on what to do had to be made quickly. There was no group consensus and it splintered into two two or three. A brief moment of indicision later and I opted to join Fly by Nite, Drugsbunny and another North American forum member who's name escapes me (thats not the marijuana causing the memory loss, I don't think I even knew it) in a seemingly forlorn effort to make it to the protest in time. We had a little over 9 mins and we were not even in Dam Square yet. So I led the charge, the stomp, set a fast pace and let the rest follow...

Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
I would hazard a guess that to anyone watching, we looked anything but stoners. Moving swiftly through the crowds we glided our way to our final destination, travelling as fast as humanely possible without actually breaking into a jog.
4.20pm and we made it, just as Nol Van Schaik and the coffeeshopnews crew were leading the light up.
We lit up, smoked, surved the scene and took it all in for a few minutes. I think we probably should have stayed a little longer, but we decided it was time to move on and headed for Voyagers, via a couple of short stops on the Metro.
By the time we got to Voyagers we were tired. We'd been on a mission and succeeded! I had a long chat with Drugsbunny about all kinds of things and after a while and severl bongs later, the dude who's name I've forgotten headed off to catch his train. Fly by Nite also eventually moved on and Drugsbunny and I headed off to get something to eat...actually my memory of this/the next bit is a bit fuzzy. We may have eaten something on the way to Voyagers, I vaguely remember eating, can't remember where, when or what though, fuck it, whatever happened I ended up having another smoke with DB, in Greenplace I think and then headed off to Basjoe, where there was a T n T happening.

Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
Couple of hits of White Widow x Sour Diesel has sparked the memory a little. It wasn't Basjoe I ended up at, it was Nes. Still can't remember what we did for dinner...DB/FBN, any ideas please let me know??
So in Nes it was another couple of beers, a few bong hits and a gentle winding down from what had been a long day. Seemed like most of the people there were ACD - pretty much everyone from earlier in the day. Massive vape bags in the street outside, bonging it with Gapie in the outdoor/covered smoking area, chatting chit with Ron, Arsonist, Matty, Lemming, etc.
But the longest day was still to come, as on Saturday 21st, we were off to do the Cannalympics, ACD style! With that in mind, I headed off to catch a tram and headed back to the attic. It can't have been much later than 11.30pm and I was knackered. There were purchases at Utopia, Voyagers and Greenplace but I have no idea what. They all got bonged pretty quickly.
...thats enough updating my trip report for one night, next time Cannalympics and more...

Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
So its Saturday 21st April, the day after the day before in Mokum...and anywhere else you might happen to be, as it happens.
Once again Voyagers is the starting point for the day and by half past the expected time of departure, those assembled were more or less ready to depart. Less to be honest, but stoner is as stoner does and only a few of the group manage to go missing during the short trip across the canal to Central Station, destination, Cannalympics Haarlem, parton saint whoever.
So who formed the motley crew? The big disadvantage of writing the report over 6 months later is remembering everyone who was there. Gapie, Omnibuzz, Bleak, Trad, Big Guy, Uncle Ron, Arsonist, FBN, Gromit & Missus, Colina, Occasional Bowl, Blueberry, Hestia, Yogi Bear, maybe there were more, maybe not even some of these.
So the set up was that 12 of the 16/17 coffeeshops in Haarlem had clubbed togther to run a stoner coffeeshop crawl challenge. In each coffeeshop there was a task to undertake, in order to achieve a stamp on you participation sheet. Achieve all 12 stamps and you receive an official "I did it" medal. Obtain the best times/scores in each individual trial and win additional prizes, maybe.
The challenges were a varied bunch, ranging from the banal to the sublime. The more sedate ones involved jigsaw puzzles, stacking grinders and such like and these were largely 'get the stamp and move on' kinds of stops. Others involved smoking and in many cases a bit of free weed, which was nice. Birdy's mirror joint rolling, Willie Wortel Indica's bubble-a-long and WW sister shop Sinsimilli's Vaporbag challenges were the highlights of the day, from a coffeeshop persepctive. From an overall persepctive the highlights were the entire effin' day and being in such great ACD company throughout.
Hitting the bubble-a-long in Indica along with Trad, Gapie, Colina, Gromit and Arsonist, while FlyByNite made sure we were treated like royalty by bonghost Nol Van Schaick was a blast. We all managed about 20 second full pulls but were nowehere near the 51-second benchmark that had already been set by the time we arrived. I've done a bit of training on this since I got home and can get up to about 42-secs now on a good day, with at least one lung still intact afterwards.
The end of crawl vaporbag was an absolute delight as well, with some sticky oil mixed with bud in the volcano chamber. The one regret I have is not staying at WW Sinsimilla for the end of Cannalympics party that evening, which looks like it was a blast from the pics I saw of it afterwards. Instead if staying for this, the majority of the ACD crew went in search of food and safe passage back to Mokum. Neither were easy to achieve.
Upon reaching the station we learned that trains were suspended to Amsterdam due to a serious rail collision. They would not be starting again any time soon and the only way back was by bus. There was a big queue of people, so we decided to find food first and worry about getting home later. Apart from Colina, who was already dangerously late for his flight home. It seemed unlikely but we found out later that somehow he did manage to catch it.
Some made the wise choice of heading off for a steak, others, the less decisive amongst us hummed and hawed and eventually stumbled into what I think was a Filipino cafe. It wasn't great, but it filled a hole and enabled a bit of time for the sore legged Cannalympians to recover before the final push back to the capital.
So, back to the train station and again we've just missed being able to get on a bus that was already too full. While we are waiting, Ron becomes worried that when the next auto arrives there will be a surge of queue jumpers and we'll again miss out. We're at the front of the line, but this pole position advantage can often count for nothing in competitive emergency bus entering situations. True to form, several non-Cannalympian queue dodgers spring out of nowhere and ambush our attempt to be the first feet on the vehicle. This is too much for Ron, who ends up in a stand-off or bus-off situation with the tallest of the queue dodgers. I like Ron's thinking here, go for the biggest one and the rest will back off. So while World War Haarlem Bus Station is in progress, the rest of us safely manage to get on, and get charged in the process for our tickets by the bus driver who refused to accept our train tickets and acknowledge our status as marrooned travellers. Meanwhile the transport police (or was it traffic wardens) have arrived and rather than go through the paperwork, they allow Ron to board the bus and we head off. He doesn't even have to pay for his ticket.
As we go we realise someone got left behind...Occasional Bowl, who had been right there at the front of the queue with Ron and myself and who was now still routed to the same spot he was in before the bus arrived.. had he been a victim of the queue jumping or was he just too stoned to remember to get onboard? We may never know.
So ended a great trip to Haarlem. We got dropped off on the outskirts of town and got a tram the rest of the way back to the centre, ending the day as we had done the day before, with a few late night drinks and smoked in cafe Nes.

Re: Passengers on flight 420 to Amsterdam, proceed to gate G
Sunday 22nd April, the final day of my trip but my flight isn't until the evening so a whole day of smoking lies ahead. Het Balonetje for an early morning T & T with possible museum visit afterwards. I arrive and Stan waves from the upstairs smoking room. Coffee purchased and I climb the stairs to join Gapie and Trad, Big Guy & Keychains, who have also arrived. An hour or so and a fair bit of Dr Grinspoon later and Nimrod had also joined the group.
At about 12 Trad, Big Guy & Keychains head off in search of culture of the museum variety. Nimrod, Gapie and I head in search of more culture too, coffeeshop culture to be precise. We head to de Graal but it is closed so we move on to Erste Hulp and settle down for a wee bong session. I have a lot of stuff to finish up before my flight, including some very nice jelly hash from Birdy in Haarlem. The owner of the shop knows Gapie well and he gifts us some of their amber BHO shatter. We hit it in the bong align with the jelly and various other bits. A good chat later and by the time it gets to 3.30pm it's time for me to head off. I say my goodbyes and head back to the apartment to pack up.
The trains to the airport are still jacked from the accident so it's a bus to the airport for me. I head back to Erste Hulp one more time, smoke up the remains with a hot chocolate or two then head on my way.
End of trip.
