Netherlands judge backs cafe cannabis ban

This looks like my trip to Amsterdam this July may be the end of my love affair with the city. Do not get me wrong; it is a beautiful and vibrant city but there are many beautiful places in the world I haven't been and Amsterdam has lost its liberal charm. Economic suicide- the wisdom of the conservative mindset. I'm so beyond tired of the ridiculously hypocritical, double standards of demonising Marijuana. Should be legal; no loopholes, no lenience- just legal. Keep dreaming I guess.

As I understand it, with the wietpass, they are proposing a membership for coffeeshops for Dutch passport holders, with a maximum number of members for each shop. Not to give the bastards any ideas, but, what is to stop supporters of the ban from filling the roles of the coffeeshop memberships? Hopefully, the wietpass is not that popular of an idea amongst free-thinking, non-smoking Nederlanders....

The redlights will still shine brightly, unless the developers get their greedy hands on the properties to turn them into high-end shopping and condominium zones... Yes, there will be cannabis in Holland, just no open places to consume it if the puritans have their way.
