mate it is slightly far from the centre if i remeber correctly arounf 20 -30 mins to go to the central station
if you plan to go the night bus takes even longer which starts after midnight

i made this mistake and would advise somewhere slightly closer
however hem is cheap and ok

How close to where is it your looking for?. I'm be surprised if you cant even get within a few minutes walk of Dam Square for what they seem to be charging.

In fact goto trivago.co.uk (there may be other \better sites out there) select Amsterdam from the left, put your dates in and switch to map view so you can see just where each hotel is and also hit the price tab to sort from cheapest upwards.

Dont think the map view shows all the hotels for your dates but each hotel checking there offers has the address so that will link to a map of where it's located. If it's your first trip to Dam you really dont want to be to far out of the way I'd have thought as can be a pain working public transport there if your not to used to the strength of the smokeables and get to off yer head and then struggling to get back to the outer centrum part of the city.

Anyone stayed here recently? How is it for smoking weed? Any tips about which are the good rooms?

HEM is offering some amazingly cheap deals at the moment. So cheap I'm thinking of coming out for the cup.

Getting some mixed reviews but the place looks pretty nice on the pics and I've been to Amsterdam often enough to be able to hire and ride a bike to and from this location.

Any experiences would be helpful.

Its far from everything and its 100% smoke free except for outside in the courtyard. If you're on a budget it will be okay but I would rather spend the few extra Euro for something in the Centrum.
