They've always been around, of course, but I don't remember them as being ubiquitous. And allowed on joint pedestrian/cycle paths, which are a bit of a joke on the former in any case, when they're virtually as big as motorbikes? Or have I just always been unobservant? I often am, but not about things that can hurt me.
The Dutch and any number of wheels don't mix, but that's probably a controversial opinion.

What is a joint pedestrian/bike path? I have never seen one that I can think of. The scooters have always been there but more are on the road nowadays.
