referndum on raiding MMJ dispensaries

I watched the congressional referendum last night on c-span . it was an amendment to block the DOJ and DEA from using federal funds to selectively arrest people, raid cannabis dispensaries, and block growing of MMJ by dispensary owners. All in all it was a very well presented bill by the congressman from California. There were also 2 New York representatives, multiple other congress members from Cali, As well as Barney Frank from Massachussetts. ( who actually managed to push a 4:20 joke into his discussion) . But then, there was a representative from Virginia.. Wolf was his last name... he was the only audible opposition to the bill. He took his 5 minutes to spatter on about how all MMJ in dispensaries will do is promote use by younger users, and how the Mexican cartel is supplying all of the MMJ in the dispensaries (which would only further strengthen the cartel's hold on the youth of America. ) and how the DEA, yes he said DEA was telling him that Marijuana has no medical benefits at all. ( since when did they get the power to determine how patient's are treated?) He then went on about how smoking causes cancer... Pity such a powerful man is so INCREDIBLY ignorant about the topic. I would assume that his bias is based on the fact that most federal criminal agencies are based in Virginia, and this would mean they would possibly lose money if they were not able to freely pillage medical marijuana establishments throughout the country at their leisure.
This discussion goes much further than this topic alone, It was based on the idea that the states' laws are not being respected by the federal government. It is time to stand up for your rights America! If your state legalizes MMJ then the government should be mindful and respectful of the states wishes. And if not, why bother to have state government then? How much control does the federal government need? where does it end??
