I had a pie at Wild Moa Pies during my Amsterdam trip last December. Absolutely delicious! It's owned by a Dutchwoman who lived in New Zealand for many years, trained as a chef there and fell in love with meat pies. When she returned to The Netherlands she set up a catering company, supplying pies for events, then opened the shop. The owner is very friendly and I had a good chat with her about pies in England whilst I was there.
It's only a small place with just one table with about six seats. You can take your pie away or eat in there. Various flavours for the pies like beef, chicken, lamb or veg, and all the pies are stuffed with filling. She also sells imported New Zealand drinks like ginger beer.
If you're in De Pijp then definitely pop in there, it makes a fantastic lunch or snack stop. Coffeeshop Papillon is just around the corner.
A rival
Australian pie shop called Alfies has also opened, just around the corner from Wild Moa on Ceintuurbaan. Haven't been there yet but it looks good also, but a bit more business like. Wild Moa looks a bit more 'local'.
