Priceline shocker

Post by Grunt »

Usually book my hotels through Skyscanner but after reading the forum i noticed Priceline being mentioned pretty often

Tried it for a planned trip in early August and was shocked when an offer of US$80 per night was accepted for a 5 star in the city centre

Total price for 2 nights is £119, that is 2 star pig sty territory but none the less will snap it up asap

Wonder what 5 star it will but who cares its a 5 star hotel for the price cheaper than a Travel lodge over her

Happy trails

If you had a bid accepted by PL you should know what hotel you're staying right after payment.

Peace

Believe it! I've used PL several times over the last 5 years with great results. It will be honored as the booking is now paid. Enjoy your trip.

You might think differently after you get saddled with the Movenpick.

Not a great location.

The location is getting better as the development is completed along there, but you can get the tram from right outside, 2 or 3 minutes to C/S and the Damrak. I can agree that if I were younger and hitting town hard it wouldn't be where I would and have stayed though :D.

We chose it so we could be right amongst the boats during Sail Amsterdam in 2010 and it was perfect for that. we booked early, like a year, and got a decent price so it suited us for that reason and as I have said it was close enough to town to nip in and out easily without trekking to the outer reaches, which we have done, before we could read between the lines in the brochures :D :D. For a modern cultural location its great with the new concert hall on the same pier and the music college and the impressive new library OBA on the 5 minute walk to the station.

Priceline and bid sites I haven't tried yet, but I can get my head round ebay so I could probably get it together without messing it up. I once wound up with 3 lots of train tickets to York when I booked online, they wouldn't refund them so we took some friends who thought for years until we told them, that their day out was a spontaneous act of generosity  8).
What a long strange trip it is.

its not that bad a less then a 5 min tram ride to Centraal station, only a 10-15 min walk (or 5 min bikeride) from Voyagers or Centraal station,
only bad thing there isnt any places to eat besides the hotel and a subway (also the segway rental is right there)

Hotwire is similar to Priceline in that you get a very good price without knowing exactly where you are staying.
