Post by matty223 »

came back to the hotel one night to find the key card (missing) that i leave in the slot to run all the lights and a/c
looked like my room wsa searched, safe was open , but nothing was missing, just rearranged, he hotel is in a great location just to hot in the summer.

Peace matty

A 5* hotel and this was your experience? WTF over?
I think I figured out the problem - you stayed in a standard room instead of a suite.
This place is suite heaven, but it doesn't sound like you found Nirvana.
You should have spent the extra sheckles for a suite. That will teach you to skimp...
Next time stay at the Radisson Blue across from C/S Rusland, you won't be disappointed. A bit pricey but in the same category at the Amrath.

Happy trails...

There is no Air Conditioning at the Amrath because of some building law forbidding them to have the units outside, as it's a protected building.
It's a good place to stay in the winter, not summer.

With the A/C issues and breach of privacy, it sounds like you enjoy paying for this kind of abuse.

No, they do not have air conditioning, they have some system that throws air into the room, but it is not air conditioning as we know it.
If it was, you wouldn't have been hot.
I'm not guessing, I was told this by a friend and then phoned the hotel to ask.
I was told what I wrote here, some sort of "temperature regulation system" were the words used by the Amrath, due to protected building status.
It's a real shame because it's a very good hotel otherwise.

The bit about the room and safe being searched is the most worrying. What did hotel staff have to say about it?
How much did you produce?

Reading between the lines looks like they may have been looking for something like hard drugs perhaps?

Did you try the buffet breakfast while you were there? Probably the most expensive I've ever eaten but very very good.

The reason I wanted to make the point clear, is for anyone thinking of staying there in the future.
As you know, it can be uncomfortable during the summer, or at least on the days that are hot.
If the hotel themselves call it AC, and I doubt very much that they do, then it's misrepresentation.

BTW, it's through other people's experiences that we make our own experiences better while we're there. It's what these forums are all about IMO.

Hey Matty, glad you mentioned this, I was thinking of booking there earlier this summer. Eventually, I stayed with a friend in Almere so I didn't need a hotel, but in the future I will avoid this place. Too bad, because it looks nice in the photos.
Next trip: November 2013
