I stayed at this place for a week last summer. In addition to providing a comfortable but small room, they serve a delicious breakfast. The owners/managers are friendly, and most importantly for me, they wash your laundry for free and allow free phone calls to the US. It's a five minute walk to the Van Gogh Museum and about a 10 minute walk to the Leidseplein.

This is a non-smoking hotel, but I found it easy to light up at night in front of the hotel, as it is a quiet street. During the day, i sparked up either at the fields behind the Rijksmuseum (a five minute walk from the hotel), or the Vondelpark (a 8-10 minute walk).
