BBG, I hope you are calling the stoners twats because it's their own fault.
Since 1996, millions of Californians (many transplants from other States as well) have abused the system, and shit has come home to roost.
I've said it before, stoners are their own worst enemy.
Soon, gone will be the days of getting a BS prescriptions for MMJ, oh how sad for the "get-over crowd"...

I think Cannabis should be decriminalized, with severe punishment for those contributing to minors.
I don't think the Medical Marijuana Compassion Act or whatever these laws of the people are called, is fucked, just those who ru(i)n the system.
I have my own thoughts and opinions as to how it should have been run from the beginning, but I lack a certain character flaw - greed.
I don't think any patient should have to register because I think it violates Doctor/Patient confidentiality. If one has the ability to self medicate (growing their own), why should they register? DA MAN wants to know, that's why. Effing medical community is still fractured, WHY? Blinded by religious ignorance/intolerance...

California had the opportunity to legalize cannabis two years ago and they emphatically stated NO. I wonder why? Ignorant is as stupid does perhaps, dunno but they screwed the pooch.

Not sure, something about having a dream ruined by supposed freedom loving, God fearing people, otherwise known as the American Christian Right/Tea Party.
I consider those lost souls to be just as lost as those of other religions who condemn those who want freedom from religious oppression.

Why is cannabis illegal? Look at those who are the major driving force behind it all... God fearing men and women, or so they say... probably hypocrites anyway...

my understanding is that the problem is the ILLEGAL dispensaries that opened without permits. the police are to enforce as a "soft rule" until they can get the illegal dispensaries shut down. ( p.s. they are moving east to west) gotta have a permit.. is that too much to ask? At least it seems that the topic is coming to the table in many different areas.

By being able to collect the data, state now has an accurate measure of the market. IMHO, this is important if marijuana is ever going to be removed from the Schedule of Drugs.

3 out of the 4 people I know in California never took the last step and registered with the state. The 4th is chronically ill. The disparity between the number of doctor's recommendations issued reported to the State and the requests for a State ID card, the government, and the politicians like Jerry Brown, now have a better idea of the true market and the data that supports the argument of legalization in terms of revenue that state could be collecting through taxation. This is a good thing.

The difference in the vote was less than 1 million people or about 7%.

As for CA's Prop. 19's defeat, part of the blame goes to the Federal Government who said in the weeks before the election that they would crack skulls to enforce federal law. And to the growers and dealers themselves who, for one, do not want any more attention from federal law enforcement and, two, want the artificial price support of the black market. A legal market means more competition, more supply and lower prices. Why work harder for less?

Its a sick dynamic that I think will be worked out sooner rather than latter.

This really was not a big deal. "Los Angeles" is really a 100 smaller cities and several counties, each with different local governments... The actual "Metro or LA City proper" part of LA that this covers is small when compered to the all of Southern California. It was nothing more than a PR stunt by Conservative Right Wing Politicians. This was laughed at by everyone I know in So Cal.
