Half a day layover = 5 coffeeshops in 5 hours

Post by drtangus »

Well, I had a 8 hour layover in Amsterdam earlier this week and planned to hit-up 5 spots I had missed on my last half-day layover. Sorry, no pics, didn't have anything but cash and ID on me. I'll TRY to keep it brief.

1st shop: Barney's coffeeshop - 1g of Vanilla Kush and 1g of G13 Haze

Vanilla Kush didn't look like anything special and I didn't really like the taste but I didn't really dislike it either. High was great! Put a big smile on my face :D - 3.5/5 - Arguably a 4/5. Very good energetic high, taste and looks held it back.

G13 Haze Smelled very nice. Well kept bud. Tasted more earthy than it smelled. Nice high, actually preferred the Vanilla Kush. - 3/5 - Was good bud but is the lowest ranked bud during mini-binge, I'm personally not a fan of the earthy taste...

Coffee Shop Experience:
Very busy, waited in line for about 5 minutes. Budtender was very busy but was very pleasant and patient with me. Place was packed so I hopped over to Barney's Farm to smoke. Very nice atmosphere, bartender was very nice. Enjoyed smoking there.

2nd shop: Paradox - .5g of Afghan 1 Space Cake

Afghan Very Sticky, made it hard to roll. Nice taste. Good mellow high, not traditionally a fan of has but I was impressed - 3/5 - Impressive but not a huge fan of hash.

Space Cake Saved this for before my flight. Tasted decent, was a bit dry but I didn't really care what it tasted like - Warning on the cake, 1.25g inside :? . Pfft..Warning.. Ate the whole thing before the flight and was flying both literally and metaphorically speaking. Loved it! Lasted my whole 4 hour flight! 5/5

Coffee Shop Experience:
Off the beaten path, so it was very quiet inside. Was a couple of people smoking, seemed to be locals. Budtender was very nice, warned me about the space cake. Wanted to stay and enjoy the calmness but I couldn't. I had a few more places to see and had limited time.

3rd shop: Grey Area - 1gr of Silverbubble
Silverbubble Awesome looking bud. Smell hit me like a ton of bricks. Sticky and fluffy, well trimmed, great taste, it was exactly what I was looking for. Incredible strong high - 5/5 - I got a real nice high from this one. Gave me the giggles while I was walking.

Coffee Shop Experience:
Small shop and from what I understand usually very busy. I guess I got lucky because I was able to order right away and grab a seat. I hadn't planned to sit and smoke at Grey Area but got to take advantage of your opportunities! Comic book decor. Budtender was really friendly and welcoming. Liked the vibe.

4th shop:Utopia - 1gr of Champagne Haze
Champagne Haze This was great bud too. Well kept, nice sharp smell was comparable to the Silverbubble. Nice high, sort of brought me back to earth. Tasty stuff, definite recommendation- 4.5/5 - It was getting tough to start differentiating between the highs but I'm sure this was top-notch stuff.

Coffee Shop Experience:
Budtender was really cool guy, very friendly. I dunno, he kind of reminded me of a U.K. version of Seth Rogen. Shop was ok, chairs weren't the most comfortable. Sat inside and smoked until the table opened up outside. It was great. Beautiful day, beautiful high and just sat and listened to the sounds of the city.

5th shop:Cafe 420 - didn't buy, just a cola.
Actually kind of like this place, played Classic Rock (which I enjoyed) and had a "pub like" feel to it. Very cool to not have to buy anything to smoke there. Just bought a cola and rolled up some Silverbubble for my last smoke before my flight. Thumbs up for 420.

Reality is, I wasn't disappointed with any of the shops products. I didn't have any bad experiences with the shops or the budtenders. All recommendations to visit. Had a blast!!!

I never have been to any of these coffee shops before, and went on the suggestions of all you ACDer's. The suggestions were great, many thanks for everyone that posts!

I really enjoyed grey crystals from GA (silver bubble crystals).
Wish I had full sugarcan of that stuff now :(

If Carlsberg made pubs  wonder what it was like when they used to be able to serve alcohol as well, actually, think I perfer it as it is.

Nice selection

Sounds like a great layover! Nice selection of shops and gear. Thanks!
Because life is too short to smoke bad bud.
