America is not the Greatest - We lost our way..

Post by myoung321 »

Best freaking show on TV today.(HBO).. This is how it started, first episode.

In a later episode, the main character Will McCovey gets Blackmailed by a tabloid for smoking weed and being high when reporting Bin Laden's death. I won't spoil how the tabloid found out, but to my friends in the UK it will be very familiar..

This opening Speech is reality. America is no longer the greatest country in the world. We lost our way.

Please watch,, Especially if you are American..

I don't remember anyone saying they don't love it.. The "Love it or Leave it" is a bit stale, don't ya think?

Admitting we have issues and being logical, instead of running around like buffoons spouting about how great and free we are, when most countries today enjoy the same or MORE freedoms is ridiculous. Hell going to Amsterdam to enjoy the freedom of smoking a joint without a possible prison term says we still have to work to do on those Freedoms...

Realizing we have things we need to fix is not saying you hate it. It shows more love for ones country to strive to make things better. Hiding ones head in the sand and ignoring our problems is not an answer.. We tried that and it failed measurably.

One of our major issues is Education. When 45% of Americans believe Saddam Hussein was involved 9/11 and these same low and middle income Americans continue to vote against their best economic interests.. . With that sort of stupid, yes, we have a lot to work on.

Hell our Healthcare system alone is a joke to most western countries. Hopefully that is finally starting to change.

Did you even watch it? Seriously.

Who?.... not me..... I'll ask again.. Did you watch it?

Vote for a 1%er guy that wears Magic Underwear, believes in Planet Kolob and Never drank 1 beer?...... I don't think so.....Medical Marijuana and Legalization efforts will be put back at least a decade if these Right Wing whack jobs get any additional power...

Economically, We damn near didn't survive 8 years of Bush. Now the same morons want power and their main talking point is that Obama hasn't been able to fix their fuck ups fast enough...

I have faith. Obama will win a second term. The Tea Party Whack nut jobs will fizzle away and the Real Republicans will retake power of their party and we can start to get things done through compromise and common ground, as we always had...

sorry for the rant...

The show is nothing more than a fictional estimation of what the news would be like if it were not so bias/revenue driven. It's not that good, but its not that bad. Just another run of the mill HBO show chasing the magic from Sopranos. I've watched 3 episodes so far, but doubt I will watch more. Despite all the arguments/points the show makes it really is just entertainment, and it is still for the uninformed masses.

I'm pretty sure America didn't get the best medical system in the world by following what other countries did dude. Turn off the propganda machine, its not helping America improve.

We have the best, if you can afford it... most cannot. Fixing that issue is helping America and Americans.

The World Health Organization's ranking of the world's health systems puts the U.S. at #37, we just got by Solvenia,,,,... Yeah Were #37!

Repeating the stale "We have the best" is nothing more than parroting what you've been programmed to say.... that's not watching the propaganda machine, that's the Propaganda Machine Working!

with first hand experience of the day to day operation of a real newsroom, this show falls behind even WKRP in the recreation of that environment...ok maybe not that bad lol :P :P some good actors and writing, but way off on realism. sorry

Being able to afford it, and it being the best are two different topics. As for the NWO ranking of our health care, I place no value on such a number, if you choose to, so be it. Is it fair that Magic Johnson gets to be able to access the cure to AIDS while others die from it because they cannot "afford" it? No I guess you could argue that's not fair, but I would argue that heroin addicts, and people having unprotected sex getting AIDS instead of those choosing not to take those risks is fair. The majority of health problems come from the personal choices you make, and fuck off communist if you think I should pay for your mistakes. With that said, yes I understand there are people who are dealt a bad hand, and born with real chronic problems. There should be a strict program to help those people, we don't have to be savages. If I lack compassion because I want my taxes going to autistic care, and not the fat smoker/drinker then so be it. Should terminally ill patients be pumped full of pharmaceuticals or be allowed to use MMJ to improve the quality of life during their last days?

I don't argue parts of the system are very broken, but the reality is having the incentive to solve these problems, are what made us the lead innovator of medicine for some time. Is the leader the best? No leaders of anything can, and will make mistakes, but someone needs to lead. Following other countries will not lead to innovations period.
