Oh, Canada, (lol) thank you for the insight, but I would like to reenforce what I said earlier. It is supposed to be a "fictional estimation" of how news would be if it were not 100% driven by money, and advertising revenue, which it is.TwoCanucks wrote:with first hand experience of the day to day operation of a real newsroom, this show falls behind even WKRP in the recreation of that environment...ok maybe not that bad lol![]()
some good actors and writing, but way off on realism. sorry
Being a bit of a techie geek, the only part I really found interesting was the take on tax-payer paid airwaves. Remember originally TV only got to your house by radio waves, and everyone had an antenna or rabbit ears. The governing body of these airwaves are the FCC. From the shows account (and i would concur to some extent) what happened was the technology was invented, but then who would pay to implement such wide spread, and expensive endeavor? Oh the tax payer will foot the initial costs (thanks to free market the Internet provides we have websites like kickstarter.com now) and we will just let the advertisers run wild. Even during the nightly "news" because chances are, those will be the highest ratings. People expect us to inform them, not advertise to them. Eventually they figure out news has the best ratings, and black and white news turns grey as advertises outbid one another for the best slots when the most people are watching. Greed becomes the agenda, not a well informed electorate.
