Lost my job because of Marijauna, WTF?

In a nutshell. Slipped coming up the steps and stubbed my big toe so hard it broke

No prob, still could work. No they needed me to fill out an Accident/Injury report anyway

That set in motion them asking me for a drug test

I refused cause I knew it would come back dirty

So I lost my job even though I worked there for 8 years and not once did I ever clock in late, read that again, always
came in on my day off when they asked, always stayed late when they needed me to, and had numerous customers write in about how great of an employee I was

All because I choose to smoke Marijauna instead of getting intoxicated legally with Alcohol

Pleaded with my boss, but he just told me that it's "Policy". WTF?

Yeah, yeah I get it. But basically I'm the best fucking worker (sorry I'm normally humble, but this is true) in the joint,
but I lose all my INTEGRITY because I smoke weed

Please convince me I'm wrong

It just shows that generally in the work environment you are only as good as your last good deed..as a head of department I can understand the need to follow protocol but I agree you should have taken the test and then pleaded your case as refusal to test can often be taken as an admission of guilt. However, if it were me, I would afford you the merit of an exemplary work record and issue you with a written warning in the first instance

This is a very common tale....it happens all over America...it's cooperate bullshit..but your screwed and there is nothing you can do about it.....many cases have been ruled uponisn't the u.s. already giving employers the right to fire you no matter what a doctor says...mmj card will not save you either...many people have lost there job in California, Maine,Michigan ,Washington and all other mmj states....it is a war my friend and it is not one the other side will ever give up,,,,,.....we must force it from them........Sorry you lost your job......good luck in the future search....


P.s. it always helps to have a box of synthetic urin on hand.....works every time and has a long shelf life...especially if you have a job that can hit you with a pop test....just a suggestion ...

Hard times mate, sorry to hear that.

I know it's a bad job market right now but getting a new job depends what you do for a living and more importantly what skills you have.
If it was a safety sensitive job ie. driving, brain surgery, dangerous machinery whatever then you are probably better off out of it in the long term I'd say, otherwise theres always that bit of paranoia that you might get a test or that you do get wrecked one day and really fuck up.

You have to look around you and see what the opportunities are, I think the expression is "think outside the box". I hope you get sorted .

First, this totally sucks that you were fired for refusing to incriminate yourself.
I believe it's a violation of your 4th Amendment Rights, although courts say otherwise, fucktards.
Running with the scant info you provided, this sounds like a case of someone hating on you real bad. As I stated above, stubbing toe leads to urinalysis.
If I was administered one of these damned things every time I was injured on the job, they would have take gallons of my urine.
As the saying goes, slightly modified, something smells rotten in IL.

My advice if faced with having to give a sample, just do it.
Demand to see the test results before admitting ANYTHING.
The results could show a false positive on a drug that you haven't taken.
Another reason not to refuse it that they might not even be testing for cannabis. hmm...?

anytime you get hurt now in the US ron, you usually get pissed right away, cause i your high drunk or on anything that is not prescribed you usually get fired, its a bullshit policy but most companies, and local muni's do it
