Budget hotel recommendations?
Budget hotel recommendations?
Me and the gf wanna hit the dam for 2 or 3 nights in November. We don't really want a fancy 5 star hotel, and would rather go for something cheap. But not something so cheap that it is uncomfortable to stay there.
Any ideas? I think hotel 83 might be an option.

What do you define as cheap? What do you define as uncomfortable? Is location important? Is an elevator important? Is having ensuite bathroom/toilet/shower facilities important?nixy wrote:Me and the gf wanna hit the dam for 2 or 3 nights in November. Well if I could get 3 nights for me and the gf for around 175 euro that would be fantastic.
A double bed and comfortable room to ourself pretty close to the city centre would be great. Somewhere you can feel safe too.
Smoking weed in the room a bonus.

I use price comparason websites. Booking websites and 'bidding' (Priceline Name your own price) websites.nixy wrote:Well if I could get 3 nights for me and the gf for around 175 euro that would be fantastic.

The amount of times I've ended up in 2 single beds pushed together.....
for 175 eu you should be fine as long as you book plenty in advance and it is not a busy time. Unless you use bidding websites you'll probably have to settle for a 2 star or less for that money. I see stairs in your future!
btw I've stayed at Hotel 83 purely and randomly cos I got a great deal there and it is just fine as long as you are not paying the kind of money that leads to high expectations.
Good luck.

there are a couple of booking places on this sites front page. I have used them both on multiple occasions with no problems. Most recently booking dot com.nixy wrote:which websites treetop?

Never tried emailing hotels for better deals yet. I doubt that would work unless it was a family run type place.

I have not stayed there but a decent part of town. This website will have a lot of reviews of any hotel you want to try...

My advice would be to book a room with free cancelation then relax and shop around using other sites or even Priceline bidding. You might get lucky and get a 4 star for same price.
Here is a thread where people discuss Priceline Bidding in Amsterdam more detail....

Have a good holiday.

Sers People,
Try Hotel Corner. Location almost right next to Dam-Square. In February I stayed there a few days. €50 per night. Don't expect anything fancy though. And the only thing in the room that was clean was the bed.
Peace,
Pudelfan

If you link to hotel bookings through this site, ACD gets a commission if you book a room.

i always go to de maalemoolen on warmostraat. Cheap (my stay is 45 euro per night for a single). Nothing special, but it has English TV channels and you can smoke in the rooms.
