Maybe a glimer of hope(weitpass)

Post by craig bell »

This doesn't actaully say anything regarding the pass directly. but shows that the Gorvernment may have to abandon the pass to keep revenue coming in. It was printed in the DutchNews

The talks between the right-wing VVD and the Labour party have been going on for two weeks. The two parties have already agreed how to amend the 2013 spending plans drawn up by the outgoing administration.

Tax

Meanwhile, the Financieele Dagblad says the next government will not get as much in tax income next year as it expects.

The paper quotes tax experts who say there is a very real chance tax receipts will be €2bn lower than forecast.

Economist Flip de Kam told the paper the forecasts are based on over-optimistic expectations about the growth in income tax. Over the past few years, income has not risen as fast as economic growth, De Kam points out.

Hopefully because of this they have to re look at the wietpass to help generate more revenue to help cover this hole. Keep believing and as already said by the "OLDIES"...lol...Have A Heart.

I doubt if revenue consideration will play any role in canning the Weitpas. Pressure from Mayors and police chiefs, outside of a few border towns, who neither want or believe in this scheme will be more of factor.

Yeah id agree with that too. The chief of police and the mayor will play a role. But losing the tax revenue leaves a gaping hole. Then if they use the pass how much more money will they lose. From the tax on weed tourists buy.

I suspect a gaping hole already in reservations for 2013 - nothing booked for example on Amsterdam Escape. I, and many others will take our money elsewhere. Not much in the terms of a national budget though I suspect.

Remember the wietpas is an ideological law. In such cases common sense goes out the window.

I don't beleive loss of revenue is an issue or a consideration. Stoners will be replaced by "respectible" people who would never come before because of the weed and hookers.

+1

been saying this for a long time...there is a stigma attached to Amsterdam specifically, and to a lesser extent the Netherlands, that it is a drug infested, hedonistic environment, full of degenerates and bottom feeders.
