A DISABLED SCOOTER RENTAL SERVICE. OPINIONS APPRECIATED

Post by acuman »

Being disabled I'm considering opening a disability scooter rental service in Amsterdam. I believe there is a real need for one and where a need exists an opportunity also exists. Any advice, opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Any established businesses with space to rent from which to operate from should also contact me as should any other interested parties. I will be in the city from 17th to 20th Novemember.

Many Thanks. Danke. Merci.

Hi, welcome. I've moved one copy of this question here and removed the copies.

Sounds like a good plan to me, have you ever used similar services yourself in other cities? Are any similar businesses already operating there already? The high price of premises in central Amsterdam could be a hurdle, but you could start small. Centraal Station would be an ideal location. Any other services you could add on like guided tours of all the chair-friendly tourist spots/coffeeshops? Accomodation likewise, maybe you could develop THE website for disabled visitors?

I wonder if the Dutch Government would offer any grants or other help for a disabled-helping business?

Good luck with your venture, how about a Trip Report focussing on accessibility and other issues when you return next month? It may be useful for other readers. I mentioned in another post that there's a local guy who goes in Amnesia coffeeshop who has a scooter, maybe he could offer some advice - he's a very nice guy. Sissy the owner could put you in touch if he's not there when you visit.

I wouild very much appreciate a contact number and or address as I'm sure many disabled smokers who visit the Dam would. I've never been able to find one.
