Beans and Toes Return to Amsterdam...

Post by roberts0928 »

Amsterdam 23/09/2012 - 26/09/2012

:D :D :D Here as promised is our travelogue for our second trip to Amsterdam... Enjoy!

Sam and Emma x

Day 1

Up at half 8 to a brief phone call from mum and that was me, up and ready for the day. Started work at 1, just to work the United game, then 4pm appeared. It was time to go!!!! Quick change and back out the door as we proceeded to T1.
Had a drink and burger from burger king while we waiting. Then we made a a quick dash to our gate so we didn't have to oue for ages. It was a late flight so we needed to make sure we had no hold ups. I really enjoyed the flight, looking down on all the towns lit up flying inland, Sam on the otherhand hated the flight! It took what seemed like a lifetime to taxi around the airport. It was cool when we landed no rain just a light breeze. We made our way through the airport and it took about ten minutes to get to the trainstation. Nipped out the front of the train station for a cig then wandered over to the ticket machines to buy our tickets. We weren't too sure what platform we were leaving from so we just walked up and down until we found it.

**Hilarious moment**
Sam went to go down the up escalator! it was one of those can't be described with words moments. He looked like a chicken caught in headlights, arms and legs flying all over the place and his suitcase with a life of its own. Amazing moment!!!

Found the train with the help of a little dutch man. there was really cool grafitti inside the train. There was only 3 stops between us and Amsterdam. Took about 10 minutes and then i started to recognise things around us. And we're home... Took no time at all to get to where we were staying. Hostel Utopia. Its small inside the coffeeshop downstairs but it's got heaps of character. We got our key from the desk. Our double room wasn't ready so we were put in a triple room for our first night it was lovely and quaint. everything you want from a hostel. Comfy beds and clean sheets.
First stop was 420 for a brew and 1g nevilles haze, I had a cold so i couldn't really smell or taste anything for a day or two, but it got me high so no complaints from me. We didn't have a grinder but the american bud tender was kind enough to lend us a grinder. It felt nice just being sat there in the window seats looking out at all the cakes... :)
We left 420 in a bid to find a shop we could purchase a grinder and some tobacco... We went for a wander down the canals. It was a bustle, it was late so all the windows were full and there were people wandering in and out of them. The women are gorgeous, no wonder Sam couldn't keep his tongue in his head :)
We stumbled upon Hill Street Blues at The Market. It had a small reception area where you could buy your weed and drinks. The woman behind the counter was making tulips out of paper it was a nice atmosphere. We got 1g of Super Silver Haze and perched ourselves at the end of a sofa bench. It was a nicely decorated building and there was a lady lay next to us with no shoes on watching NCIS with Dutch subs on! we had a spliff and then made our move.
We wandered about for a bit but we couldn't stay out for long because it was getting too cold. So we found our way to Blues Brothers. Its sort of on a high street but not. We bought a ten bag of Super Lemon Haze off the Scouse bud tender upstairs. Its nice to relax in there at night not been there in the day!
It was getting late and we were both getting tired and cold so we decided we'd head to our last coffeeshop of the evening. We ended up in stones corner. Gorgeous little place and so cosy. bought some blue cheese and had a few spliffs. Its got a really relaxed kinda feeling. really enjoyed the smoke.
We got some chips and mayo on the way back to our room... little too much mayo though not enough chips. We'd got too stoned and forgot to buy any rizla or tobacco or a grinder so we had to stop in at Coffeeshop Ben to get some rizla. Back in our temporary room we had a few spliffs and watched grass skiing on the telly. It was the best nights sleep i'd had since the last time we were here.

Day 2

8am rise for us two, Wake and Bake in Amsterdam! There is no better feeling. We got up and dressed and rearranged the bedroom. We packed our bags and left them in the room. The lady on the counter downstairs said the cleaner would move them into our new room when it was clean. We went to the tobbacconist near where we stayed the first time. Finally with pretty much all the ingredients we required we headed back to Utopia. We got a free brew and 0.5g Critical mass, cheap as chips it was as well.
We needed money so we headed to a cash point and walked a bit futher out than we did last time in search of Mellow Yellow. We walked down past the flower market and it was gorgeous the last stall looked like a jungle inside. Sam got us very very lost so i decided we were going to Basjoes. I said it was one way he said it was the other and i was right so he owes me a £1 fish.. haha. We got to Basjoes and bought 1g Master Kush (recommended). we had a fair bit to smoke then got the munchies as usual.
Off to Stones Cafe where we had 2 Cheese and Ham toasties. That guy was there again, he's like a mini bouncer, with his black leathers and a cool hat. I dragged Sam into Sheeba, we got some Red Lebanon (hash). It wasn't the best but thats down to personal preferance. Hash doesn't go down very well with me.
We decided to go back to Utopia! Good move! We got free brews... This was by far the best coffeeshop we've been to. We are almost out of weed so we got some OG #18. We went up to our new shiney double room and had a few spliffs while we watched the Disney Channel in Dutchu haha.. we got 1g of kandy jones and 1g Acopoca gold from amnesia! the strawberry milkshakes were to die for! We headed back to Utopia and the man we'd heard so much about was working, Nel, i was really glad we got to meet him. He was a really nice fella :) We went to our room for a nap only meant to sleep till 7 but stayed in bed till 8 haha soooo lazy!
We got up and got dressed then went downstairs and bought 0.5g devils 13. Awake and starving we headed out for some pancakes... Funky monkey... Banana and chocolate sauce! nom nom nom. We went to Hill Street Blues. I wasn't too keen on it the first time we went but this time it was completely different. I really enjoyed it, its got so much life and character. We were heading back towards Basjoes and it started launching it down so we quickly ran into Green place. Absolutly worth it!!! We got 1g of Choco Cheese. We had a few spliffs and then the bud tender whipped out the coolest bong ever! No hole to cover just glass! it pulled straight through! :O We had a mixture of Northern lights and Acopoco gold for the bong! couldn't really move after a few! Very strong high. It was really nice inside the abiant of the room was just right. It wasn't busy at all (which i am thankful for) so i curled up on the comfy seats next to Sam :)
It was starting to go dark and get late! So off to Basjoes for Hot chocolate! We visited there a few times already and loads of times when we were in Dam earlier in the year, its one of those perfect little coffeeshops. I love it at night its relaxing an a chill... Dots was our game of choice and Sam kept winning. no fair :) Its a bit out of the way from Utopia where we were staying so we decided to head out in search of a more local coffeeshop to have our last spliff in before we went to find food. Green place was full, which is no surprise to me and 420 was shut So we decided to go get a burger from Burger Bar... Wow and like the first time i'd tried it, it was yet again the most amazing burger i'd ever eaten... Not too sure if it's because we were stoned but it certainly hit the spot.
Back in our room Sam made a few spliffs and we sat up for an hour plaaning what we were going to do the next day.

Day 3

Naughty Samuel overslept till 9.15am!!! So a quick up and shower for us, there were a million and one things we wanted to do. Before we even consider where we're going its downstairs to the coffeeshop for a brew! Proper English tea :) pretty much everywhere sells it but Utopia alog with Basjoes and 420 do the best. to accompany our cups of tea we purchased 0.5g pot of gold and grand cru. Whilst we smoked a spliff we decided Club Media was the place for today, we'd read so much about it on ACD but couldn't find it on our map, so we asked the nice lady bud tender where it was. She gave us another map and marked down where it was. It came highly reccommended by her. So did the Hindu Kush. and with that information we headed out on our journey.
It was a bit out of the centrum and we just wandered around down the long pretty streets till we stumbled upon Free1. Its is very small upstairs and i got the feeling it was one of those places you had to buy there weed to smoke, so with that in mind we got 1g Amnesia haze. We went downstairs to ee if there was anywhere to sit and just our luck it was empty. The ceilings were low and the music was cheesy british pop. but it was quiet gave us time to snoop around and assess our surroundings. I don't think we smoked in there just skinned up and headed out to Mellow Yellow another coffeeshop Sam and I had wanted to visit while we were in the area.
We found Mellow Yellow and it certainly was yellow. It was really spacious inside there was a lower and upper floor in here. We ordered 2 English teas and bought 0.5g ss haze. The tea... now that was a whole other experiance. It was actual tea leaves in a strainer! so obviously there were leaves floating about in my brew. Real put off but the place was nice, not too packed and there was an old school pin ball machine upstairs, i've never played actual pinball. Sam said he'd show me how to do it but there was a strange man playing on it. Apart from that the ss haze was strong and got me very high.
We'd been out for a few hours and just wanted to find Club Media now... We knew we were getting close as we'd past coffeeshop little, which lived up to it's name and was a very little building from the outside, but we didn't go in. We turned left fown a gorgeous little street all the buildings covered in climbing flowers and the sun was beaming down on us! I remember thinking to myself i could stay here forever and no sooner had i thought that when i saw club media. It was black outside the building and the same when you walked in. Really nice set up and gorgeous decore. A woman came from behind a bar through a set of double glass doors. As reccommended we got the hindu kush, along with Champagne haze and Kandy kush. All 3 were a really nice smoke, especially the hindu kush. We got a bong from the lady budtender and sat ourselves round a quiet corner in what seemed like lazy boy chairs. So big and comfy. While Sam was messing about skinning up and mixing for a bong i decided to go on the arcade games machine. They had bubble pop... I am ADDICTED to bubble pop 8) and i'm number one on the leader board there :) :) :)
I must have been stoned because i sat myself in the 2 euro massage chair and for 5 minutes just had the giggles. it was really fun Sam looked like he was really embarrassed but oh well we had a giggle and it made my back feel all loose and relaxed haha. Then Sam decided to get us lost on the way to noon, which we didn't find but Dolphins we did. We had quite a bit of weed and we weren't really drawn to anything off the menu so we got a space muffin between us! urghhh i really don't like them and can't stand the taste so i gave my half to Sam... Hahaha at least one of us was stoned :)
It was creeping up to early evening so we decided to head back in the general direction of Utopia. On the way we found Dutch Flowers, we went in to buy 0.5g dazzling haze, made a spliff and then headed out. Back at Utopia we smoked a few spliffs and had a few regular bongs and that was us! Nap time! We slept for a while and woke up just after 6pm it was a nice nap, got a quick shower to freshen up and it did the job. Back downstairs to our window seat for a few spliffs a brew whilst we decided what to do with the rest of our day!
Pancakes were first on the agenda... I had an ordinary chocolate one while Sam indulged into nother funky monkey crepe. YUMMY!!!
Decided to see wha Voyagers had to offer this time round. We'd past yesterday but it was heaving. This time it was very quiet not many people in. The guy with dreads behind the counter id'd us! haha felt well strange. He has his massive boxer, i think goes by the name of deebo, in the hop and he was lovely i wanted to steal him. we got 0.5g of Kushberry and LA woman. We sat down to have a spliff and a can of coke then headed out! Voyagers was one of the first places we visited first time round so it was nice to go back. Off to Basjoes we went for a few more games of dots and 1g G13 Haze (recommended) And Buddah Cheese, we had a brew and a few spilffs of the G13... Definatley money well spent.
We were heading towards 420 again so we decided to walk past some windows on the way there. Its a whole different world. The first time i saw it i was taken back by how open and freely the window buissness is allowed to happen but this time it felt normal ad natural. The women are stunning, too pretty. I could spend hours roaming the alley ways and back streets looking at the windows. We got to 420 and luckily enough for us the window seats were free. I sat down whilst Sam went to get 1g 420 kush and some mango juice whilst i skinned up with the Buddah Cheese :) After about half an hour the muchie kicked in again and this time i was starving and i knew exactly what i needed tonight... Noodles in a box! How on earth could you go wrong. I had beef mushrooms and broccolli sam had beef and shrimp! Wow i's like heaven in your mouth. there was so much food i decided to box mine up for later. We went back to Blues brothers for a hot chocolate and a spliff... :) There were people turning up for there first night! all excited and smiling it was really nice to see. Once we'd finished it was absolutly time for home... We got in our room and i started to eat my noodles. Sam was looking through the camera at all the pictures i had taken since we left manchester and ended up deleting them all! lol We had a few spliffs and then went to bed so we'd be fresh for our final day in Dam.

Day 4

Up at 8am today! no time to sleep in we needed to be up, showered, dressed and packed before we left the room this time as it was our very last day! :( Downstairs with my Amsterdam bobble hat on, that i had purchased the night before while it was cold, we had a few spliffs and a brew. After that we took our suitcases to the trainstation and put them in locker #39-06 and at 5 euros for the day that wasn't bad! Now empty handed we headed to Stones cafe for a full English! can't believe i forgot to count the beans again! The menu specifies 173 baked beans and i'd always wondered if that was right and who in the right mind would sit and count 173 baked beans out. I rolled us a spliff and we headed out. We went for a walk around some of the red light area until we found Green Place again. We bought 1g Kush-a-delic which we decided to smoke in one of there cool bongs. There was a snooker game on the telly so we sat in for a while and watched a bit of it! We left in search of Excalibur Bar walking past all the canal side red light windows. When we got there the same lady was behind the bar. we got a pint each then went upstairs to play pool. Sam obviously kicked my arse again.
I'd moaned and moaned all holiday to get Sam to take me to the cannabis museum but it waslike 20 euros in so we just picked up one of the booklets and instead we went to a peep show! You pay 2 euro to stand in a locker sized compartment with a money slot and a self opening window shutter, its one of the strangest experiances of my life. i loved it.
We made our way back to Voyagers, the weed in there is top quality. We got Super Bio Lemon Haze and OG Kush #18. We both skinned a spliff of each, there were a few more people in ths time and the dog kept going under the tables and trying to take peoples bags on the sly but got caught every time it was hilarious. Seeing as it was our last day we tried to fit in all our favourite places one more time so we headed right out to Basjoes, where we had a freshly sqeezed orange juice and to smoke some of the weed we already had! We had our final game of dots then left. slowly i was starting to hate the fact that i wasn't going to be able to go there for my bed time hot chocolate! :(
We were hungry so for the last time of our trip we went and got strawberry and white chocolate pancakes! too many strawberries but still yummy. We went back to Hill Street Blues for a strawberry milkshake and a spliff... the whole place is ceiling to floor in grafitti, people names, dates of there trip, its surreal. i wrote our names on a long silver rizla and stuck it on the wall. Leaving a trace of us in Amsterdam!
We left there to go to Grey Area which was obviously packed out. The guy behind the counter was telling us the UK has the best Cheese bud and the worst cocaine addiction. It was quite funny really. We got 1g silver bubble that we went to Amnesia to smoke! i got us strawberry milkshakes and we sat and got so stoned!! The milkshake was out of this world :) We left amnesia and headed back to Excalibur! we were trying to stay local. This time i so nearly won but didn't... Pool is not my strong point! and just like last time we had a spliff and left to go to another peep show! Yet again the same woman from the morning although looking rather more worn out than she did!
It was getting on and we were out of weed! We headed over to Blues Brothers for the final time to buy some sticky finger haze, We had 2 or 3 spliffs of it before i managed to drag Sam tatt shopping. Didn't spend much time in there just a few keyrings and magnets. We only had time for one more coffeeshop visit so it was home... Utopia!!! We got some cheese and OG #18. I had my bong, my brew, my bud and my beans... What more could a girl want!
There was one hour till we had to 'bust-a-move' and in that hour i had never in all my life been so stoned. We left our grinder and rizla on the table for the next lucky person to be exploring the Dam and headed to the train station. We got through every thing like a breeze and before i knew it i was looking over my shoulder out of a plane window while the place that makes everything right, faded out of view! Its a moment you keep with you forever! Like when people say what happens in vegas stays in vegas! I think the same applies here!
