Help me choose!

Post by Cudi_420 »

So I was hoping to get some feedback from ya'all on accommodation. I've only ever stayed at the Victoria Park Plaza and an airport hotel so when it comes to accommodation in Amsdterdam I am out of the loop.

Happy to hear any and all recommendations and then I will definitely narrow it down.

Things to consider:

1. I'll be in town mid-July
2. I would prefer it be centrally located, near RLD
3. My budget is $750 for 7 nights, which is about 600 Euro, so roughly 90Euro a night (happy to push up to 110 Euro if I have to)
4. Hotels and hostels are fine. Single room, ensuite or communal bathroom, but prefer the former.
5. Cleanliness is very important, as I'm sure it is for you folk. I am a neat freak.
6. Smoker friendly is not a necessity.

ATM St. Christopher's at the Windson appears to be a good option, at about 95 Euro a night for a single.

EDIT: could I get an apartment for 600-700 Euro for a week?

Well, there is this one. The Avenue. Next to Home Grown Fantasy I think and opposite Utopia with others close by and Voyagers about 5 minutes away. Decent reviews. 7 nights with breakfast mid July for 551 euros.

You could try this place, I am due to stay there early 2013. Was recommended by another forum member.

Single room for 75 Euros per night including all taxes and breakfast next summer 2013 here should do you fine.
24hr access with your own key, ask for a large single room on the top floor at the back, you get an ash tray in your room, TV and large opening windows or patio style door, ensuite with great shower (no bath) and it is clean

Enjoy it.
Book it direct as there are no savings here through agencies like Easy to Book.

You should be able to get an apartment for that budget- that's what I would do no question. (But I prefer to have my own kitchen.)

I love Voyagers, and it's where I would stay if not an apartment, but it will not please a "neat freak" I suspect- a bit too rustic.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

+1

Voyagers or apartment...do enjoy the added feel of a living space, but most time is spent in city doing stuff....so gotta find the fit.

From one Aussie to another, I'd go Apartment or House Boat with that cash. My friend got a really special houseboat with a motorised garden room roof, when they were there. I will find out the name of that one for you. Tomorrow.

When we went we used Airbnb.com and got an apartment for really cheap like 44 Euro a night. it was next to a canal and nice quiet spot but was out a bit.

There are heaps of Apartment sites.

I'd like a house boat or a ground floor apartment as I can't handle those dutch ladders they refer to as staircases over there.
