I just thought that the strength of feeling about guns was such that 31,000 wasn't very much, although I haven't checked it's quite likely much more now, what with social media, youtube, facebook, going viral etc. See the weakness of online petitions.

Why I haven't joined on the gun debate here is that it is a conversation which, from my wide reading of world media, the American people have engaged in as never before and any interuptions from outside are, quite rightly in my opinion, not needed and not helpful.

Next, he works for CNN, a commentator and host. I'm not sure how that fits with the 1st Amendment...
As far as I know, it was not/is not his intention to use CNN as a platform to complain about our way of life.
This all started during an interview where he stated his opinion, again - an opinion.

Would you argue against the notion that the only reason he has that job, is because his opinion? CNN is different that FOX in that it is better able to disguise it's bias, because its been in the business longer. Let's not pretend like they are reporting news. They are providing entertainment. Advertising dollars are huge in news, and plenty of "men" for sale in that industry.... The petition in question IMHO is out of frustration with the media, propagating their bias ideals for $$$$.

Have to agree those petitions dont mean shit.....they require an answer? Wow, politicians give answers now, and not just diarrhea mouth? Pretty....sure....these people are just going to do whatever they want. Maybe if we had real generals with real balls upholding their oath to Constitution instead of privates with pin on rank, trying to get their cocks satisfied like they just got out of basic training we'd have some other set of circumstances within our nation....Until then the corporate military industrial complex marches forward....

There are extremes when discussing whether to ban guns, but this incident is the reason why I don't fully support an outright ban on all guns.

What I take issue with is that this asshole survived after being shot 5 times in the face (1 in the neck). Must have been a small caliber handgun.

It's not just that they are pushing an agenda, it's that they are putting out pro gun attack ads. I wouldn't give a fuck it was just run of the mill pro gun bullshit, but the fact that it's an attack ad makes it tasteless. Once Obama puts out an anti-NRA attack ad I'll find them both guilty of being tasteless, but for now I'm pretty sure Obama's just doing his job and responding to the tragedy in a much more classy manner than the NRA.
