Mostly agree, but it won't help. You cannot but the genie back in the bottle. Under no circumstances would it be possible to take back legally owned guns from US citizens. So if anything is banned today, there are still something like 300 millions guns in the US.treetop wrote:If anyone remembers Dunblaine this horrific episode may end up being the catalyst for tighter gun control in states that want it. In the UK handguns were banned in the aftermath of that terrible tragedy in Scotland.
Can't see anything happening at federal level as the RNC controls the House but I'm sure the President will try and take some action. I don't see how how he has any other choice.
Authorities recovered two 9mm handguns from the scene: one a Glock, and the other a SIG Sauer. A .223-caliber Bushmaster Firearms International rifle was found in the back of a car in the parking lot. The guns were owned by and legally registered to the gunman's mother.
Why the fuck does a 54 year old teaching assistant in a sleepy, quiet town need to be tooled up like that? It's madness. America's gun obsession is ludicrous. The kindergarten classroom where the shooter's mother, Nancy Lanza, age 54, worked as a volunteer teacher's assistant was the scene of the majority of the deaths.
Which was appropriate in that time...now it has no use whatsoever in this day and age... Bloody gun technology is from the 1800s, same place most gun supporters are stuck.Willjay wrote:The 2nd amendment was written to protect the citizen from the government. Health care is needed
Let me sum it up simply for you:redeyezman wrote:Tell me more about how criminals will follow your gun laws.
Wow. Did you just say its harder to buy a gun on the black market than it is to shoot people? So what would someone who gets a gun on the black market "save it for" target practice at the local range? Oh wait, no only government is allowed guns, so only government allowed at the shooting range... Hmmm maybe he will just use it as a beer opener. Yup that sounds about right.weoftenscore6 wrote: So if you are going to go to the hassle of getting hold of a gun, you're not going to use it blowing away 20 innocent kids.
Was created to allow citizens to protect them selves from tyranny... Which is pretty much what you said cuz our government is just that. It doesn't HAVE to be, but we allow it to...Willjay wrote:The 2nd amendment was written to protect the citizen from the government. Health care is needed
The person who did that was a sic person.redeyezman wrote:Was created to allow citizens to protect them selves from tyranny... Which is pretty much what you said cuz our government is just that. If we can't afford healthcare, how can we afford to pay an entire burociacy to administer it? Couldn't tell if u were being sarcastic or not WJ.

How are those cold dead hands feeling today I'd ask any NRA fcukwits?
To summarize what will happen in the next week:
- 4-5 days of hand-wringing
ng the phrase "senseless tragedy" repeatedly
- background information on the suspect including grainy Facebook pictures and revealing that he played trumpet in the high school band
- a few silver lining stories about children hiding beneath their desks and escaping
- Ted Nugent making a dick of himself on Twitter
- no mention of gun control
Repeat next month when it happens again and the elephant in the room (gun control) will be ignored by a nation that insists on interpreting/maintaining an amendment to a 200 year old parchment in an extraordinarily pigheaded way.
i mean, FFS, when a sentence begins like this - "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state..." - your next remark in the 21st century should be to say 'wtf?!?'
brain-damaged dogs learn lessons faster.
And the guns were his moms!weoftenscore6 wrote:Let me sum it up simply for you:redeyezman wrote:Tell me more about how criminals will follow your gun laws.
Lanza + gun* = 20 dead kids.
Lanza on his own = 1 dead or injured mother.
* Well 3 guns actually: one a Glock, and the other a SIG Sauer. A .223-caliber Bushmaster Firearms International rifle - All acquired with relative ease.
Our 'criminals' find it very hard to get access to guns like that. You have to go through some serious back channels and deal with some extremely rogue elements to even get hold of a handgun. So if you are going to go to the hassle of getting hold of a gun, you're not going to use it blowing away 20 innocent kids. A 20 year old kid with mental issues, from a small town, simply wouldn't be able to get hold of a gun.
So it's not a case of people following our gun laws. Its our effective gun laws make it dramatically harder to do something like this. It's very simple.
